I fish creeks/rivers almost exclusively, here in WV/Southwestern VA... Question is, with a winter that has been VERY warm, I wonder what it's going to do to the movement/life of the smallies here? Hoping it doesn't adversely affect them, especially if we have a cold snap later. after being in the mid/high 50's for a while, I begin thinking I need to be out... It's February. This should not be. lol.

Grew up in Greenbrier County fishing the Greenbrier and the New. The warm weather won't bother the fish at all, up side is you should be fishing, Smallies take to the cold water like trout. I know a few ppl who only fish during the winter, it is their point of view that they have a better chance of catching a monster in the cold. I do have a buddy who caught a 6 pounder in December during a snow. Weird. The cold snap happening now may push them into deeper water, but they can be found and they will be eating. Good luck and tight lines

The weather yesterday was extremely warm for February. Today's too windy, but I'm gonna go out within the next week or so.
