Arty4 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Hello all, new member here and also recently moved to Charlotte, NC for work. Most of my fishing tackle is still back home with my boat in MI, but I do have a few necessities. I was hoping someone could help me out finding somewhere to wet a line. I am staying in the uptown Charlotte area and would just like somewhere to fish from the bank. Thanks for any input. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 theres some great fishing to be had in NC, unfortunately i dont know anything about the Charlotte area...wish i could help you Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I believe you can bank fish around the dam on lake norman. Quote
MrPerfect Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I can personally vouch for fishing the shore at Lake Norman. There is a park down near the South Carolina/North Carolina border that has over a mile worth of fishable shore fine. It's great for cat fshing as well, but it was where I learned how to properly fish a crankbait before I moved back to Florida due to the rocky bottom of Lake Norman. Quote
geeman Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 From Charlotte your best areas may be Latta Plantation, Mountain Is. Lake. A lot of hiking trails to access shallow to deep water. Off Beatties Ford Rd. north of Charlotte. The other areas would be on Lake Wylie; south of Charlotte. Copperhead Landing has pier area; and McDowell Park has good deeper water areas with rip-rap that is good for a shaky head jig. Both are located off Hwy. 49south below Carrowinds Admusment Park. From The Charlotte Square about the same distance to all. Closer than Norman. Mt. Island is used a lot by kayak fishermen also. For Norman you would about have to go to Lake Norman State Park for good access. Long drive. The "Hot Hole" is great fishing I just don't know how to tell you how to access the area. Quote
