loodkop Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I have had 3 spinnerbaits break in half in the last couple of months. All 3 broke at the line tie. Which are the strongest s/baits around? The last one broke with a 5 pounder on the line and I don't want a repeat performance. Thanks in advance for the advice. Quote
Bass Dude Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I make my own and have never had problems with normal use and abuse. Terminator makes some good baits with the titanium arms. 1 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 1, 2012 Super User Posted February 1, 2012 Terminator T-1 are the only ones I will use anymore! They are also good when you catch a junk fish that normally straightens a sbait out, these do not! Jeff Quote
BradH Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Yep, roll your own. If you don't want to cast lead Stamina (lurepartsonline) has good heads, skirts, etc. I have caught multiple hammer handle to 20 pound pike and a few muskies on Stamina heads, no issues. I'm not sure about shipping to SA. I also started putting a zip tie over the skirt collar. The skirts last longer that way. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 1, 2012 Super User Posted February 1, 2012 Unfortuantely the weakest part on a spinnerbait is at the R-Bend (line tie). Not much you can do about it. When a bass hits a spinnerbait at the blade arm it compresses down and fatigues the bend and...well no need to go into what happens. Dr. Spinnerbait (http://www.ko-man-ch...m/products.html) is made with stranded wire which never needs to be tuned and will not fatigue the line tie. About the only way to having replace a Dr. Spinnerbait is if you hang it up or lose it on a cast. These aren't cheap, but they are durable as all get out. I believe TW carries the line now if you want to check them out or I believe you can order direct. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 2, 2012 Super User Posted February 2, 2012 War Eagles. Never had a problem. Quote
Jason Penn Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 try the closed eye wire instead of r bend. the terminator baits always worked good for me until i switched to a mod action rod, then i couldn't seem to hook'em as well. i guess the extra spring in the wire plus the slower rod was keeping them from getting hooked good. Super User deaknh03 Posted February 2, 2012 Super User Posted February 2, 2012 Check out the Dr Spinnerbaits, very high quality and nice looking baits. Pricey, but worth it, you will not break one of these. Quote
