Okay 7 weeks till I head to Jacksonville Fl for my 6 week training. Should I take a spinning rod or baitcaster? I personnaly like baitcasters but only have room in the car for one rod and small tackle box.

Need to know what to take to Jacksonville rod and tackle wise.

Also still looking for more ideas for some evening/weekend fishing spots around UNF.

Most importantly Where to fish from shore especially near University of North Florida..

Had posted last year but class got cancelled, thank the those who had replied

fished that lake to the left of your red marker on that pic 3 weeks ago

caught them steady with dropshot fishing real slow. Waters clear and there are pads all around. Walkways all around that you can cast here and there but very easy to put a canoe or jon boat right in.

Thanks Yahoo, I'll be walking the shore. Driving the company car down from KY. Figured I'd bring a short baitcater 2-peice spinning rod and all the tackle I can squeeze in the floorboard.

What you using on the drop shot?

Trying to revive this thread. I'm starting to get things together in the garage to load up in the car.

Any suggestions on where to fish or a good tackle shop in the area that i could ask once I get down there?

Man there are tackle shops everywhere, acadamy, gander mount,dicks...local shops.

The local shops are gonna tell you how to fish mostly salt water...all the recession ponds in Jax are stocked

Bass are on the beds and some have already spawned in certain areas...I did fish the big sized pond at UNF

they are tricky cause they are used to seeing people I suggest wearing surrounding colors adapt to the envior.

I know a pond that has some pretty big bass in it and I will have to PM you about it when your closer to coming down.

Until then if you have any questions i'll do my best to keep you informed.
