Super User iceintheveins Posted August 1, 2009 Super User Posted August 1, 2009 When do you guys add a plastic trailer to your spinnerbaits? Do they work better than a plain spinnerbait or just under certain conditions. What are your favorite trailers? Quote
Andy Taylor Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I always use a 2" or 3" grub in a contrasting color to the spinnerbait. I do this with in-line spinners too. Quote
basser89 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 For me, I only use plastic trailers in stained to muddy water conditions. I do this to add a little extra bulk to the bait. I tend to use a 3-4" grub to mine when I need. Quote
Super User CWB Posted August 1, 2009 Super User Posted August 1, 2009 I use them on all my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits except the ones that have the Perfect Skirt, which has some of the skirt material hanging back to act as a trailer. I use BPS twin tail Cajun Trailers exclusively. Quote
esoxangler Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I always use a trailer, bulks it up a bit and adds just a little more action. I mainly use YUM Boogee Tails in white. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10206468____SearchResults Quote
Koop Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I use * 4" spinnerbait trailers in white or pearl. Will dye the tip or whatnot with JJ's as needed. Quote
Bassin for Walleye Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I always put trailers on my spinnerbaits and I usually just use a normal twister tail. Quote
adclem Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I use Kinami 3" or 4" single tail grubs in matching colors and sometime will use a contrasting color. Later, Quote
bigtimfish Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I always use a trailer. My favorites are Uncle Josh jumbo pork frogs, zoom trailers, and modified ribbit frog legs. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 i dont normally use trailers, but on the occasion that i do...... i just use the end piece from one of my beat up worms and such.... works just fine, and puts good use to an otherwise useless bait. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 I use the Mepps/MrTwister split double tail grubs for trailers on all my spinnerbaits. Quote
tentimesover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I've started adding a white split tail worm to my spinners after viewing Glenn's video and I believe it has significantly improved the number of strikes I'm getting. I also regularly feel bites to the trailer without a sincere strike. I think this may be perch going after the trailer. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 3, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 3, 2009 I use the Mepps/MrTwister split double tail grubs for trailers on all my spinnerbaits. Those are some of my very favorite spinnerbait and jig trailers. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 3" slider grub. Don't know if it really matters, but I've just always used these. Quote
