bugman Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Will be heading down to Okeechobee this week and would appriciate any suggestions on where to fish. Not asking for way points of ypour hot spots but would like to know what part of big O would be the best to start out on. I understand the shinner fishing is hot but would rather fish artificials. Pitching plastics, casting spinnerbaits and lipless cranks are my go-to baits but i'm willing to learn from the locals. Thanks, Bugman Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted January 31, 2012 Super User Posted January 31, 2012 Belle Glade and Clewiston areas are pretty good. West wall flats are pretty prductive right now. Jig for pigs, otherise run some swim baits through the grass for ome crazy hitting 2-4 lbers Quote
Super User South FLA Posted January 31, 2012 Super User Posted January 31, 2012 Fish the A.M. with shiners on outside points adjacent to flats if the wind allows, and fish the evening with artificials searching for a HAWG. Where are you headed exactly West, South, North, East side of Lake? Quote
Shane Procell Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I fished out of Moore Haven today...the wind was howling but managed to get a 8# and a 7 3/4# on a JD'sCustomBaits buzz frog. I was fishing the grass flats adjacent to hard grass lines. Beside those two fished it was tough. Hope you do well! Quote
shallow thinker Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Its been a warm winter down here but we still get a front coming through each week. On those cooler days you might try flipping thick cover. I got a 7.22# on Sunday flipping matted junk. Some days they'll eat a moving bait (like Shane's frog) but more often you have to slow down in January. Good luck Quote
