I used to have great days with the Bitsy Bugs with a trimmed Zoom Super Chunk Jr. Started pouring my own light and heavy jigs when I was about 16 with smaller Gamakatsu hooks for those finicky smallmouth. I can't believe more manufacters don't use high-quality hooks..... bravo to Strike King for using Gammies now.

Northstar Premier head, Alien to be exact. 1/4 ounce. Trim the forward portion of the skirt even with the head, essentially. Rage Baby or Craw as a trailer.

Bitsy bug 1/8 oz. with tiny paca chunk, or a 5/16 oz. booyah baby boo jig with a rage chunk.

Eakins jigs. I found them for sale at wal mart for $1.50 for two jigs and I don't think I will use another. Quite literally I probably won't use another because I bought out all of the local wal marts here in central Iowa and I have about 3 sacks full. I like to use a zoom superchunk jr or crazy legs chigger craws as trailers. I like netbait trailers too because of the colors, but I find that they tear way too easily. Especially the pincers.

Strike king bitsy bug flip in any kind of cover. Open water too sometimes. Make sure its the "flip" version though, the regular bug's weedguard is so light its useless. Give me a jig with a thicker weed guard I can modify to my needs.

I dont usually like their products, but the terminator finesse jig is a great open water jig. I like how the metal weedguard is less visible than then normal plastic versions in clear water. Probaly makes zero difference to the fish but I feel more confident in the crystal clear river water during the summer.

forget those suggestion, my favorite finesse jigs are keitech mono spin jig and model 1 casting jig in 1/40z, they are true finesse jigs

Definitely consider the type of cover you will be throwing to. While there are pricier options that will last longer, I prefer the cheaper jigs when fishing areas where I might get hung up and lose a bait or two. Bitsy bugs are great for this. Arkie jigs, which revolutionizwd the way bass jigs are made, can be bought in smaller sizes at Walmart for $1.50. They don't look like much and don't last as long, but they catch fish. Hard to go wrong with pacas, chigger craws, or baby brush hogs for trailers. Chigger craws don't last as long, but come with the claws molded together. You can tear them apart for a lot of thumping and flapping or leave them connected for the subtle approach. Hope that helps.

There are definitely better made jigs, but I use 1/8oz bitsy bugs and 1/4oz bitsy flips from strike king. I'm not afraid to fish em hard and lose em. I usually use a zoom super chunk or super chunk junior. I use black, black/blue, and green pumpkin jigs, and I keep black, blue, and green pumpkin trailers handy. I'll use dye markers to add a little muted red or orange if needed.

Best of anything is subjective and I usually avoid responding to this type of post.

Before the term finesse jig became popular several high quality small hand tied living rubber jigs with premium hooks were and a few still are on the market.

Skinny Bears Original pro series jigs have been and still are a premium "finesse" jig available in 1/4 and 3/8 oz. ThexUJ 101 Spin Frog pork trailer are excellent if you can find them! Over looked but a excellent finesse jig trailer is a 4" finesse hand poured worm with tail split 3", simple and very effective trailer for small jigs.

How do you guys hook the baby rage craw and tiny paca chunk?  Do you thread them or hook them like a chunk

My favorite is the booyah baby boo jig with a zoom super chunk Jr.  I like the bitsy bugs to but hate the hooks on them.

I use 3/16 ounce Strike King Bitsy Bug jigs with Baby Rage Craw trailers. I bite off the first two segments of the Baby Rage Craw to make it a little shorter then thread it onto the hook and over the trailer keeper.  The hook point comes out right in the middle of the craw's head.

I make a 5/16oz jig similar to the Eakins jig and a Super Chunk Jr is the most often used trailer.
