moloch16 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 What techniques do you'll use to stop a rattle bait from rattling? Specifically, I would like to take the rattle out of Red Eye Shads. Thanks for any help you can provide! Quote
fisher of bass Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 try drilling a little hole and add a little super glue,i think muddy came up with this idea Quote
senko_77 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I don't know the construction of the Red Eye Shad, but I know with the original Rat-L-Trap, you drilled a hole in the bottom right in the middle of the two hook hangers. Either take the lead shot out, or fill with glue. Quote
Primus Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 There are also lipless cranks available that are silent, the Sebile Flat Shad is an excellent option. Also, Ichiban tackle offers Daiwa lipless cranks in a silent, one knocker & rattling version. Quote
moloch16 Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Thanks Primus, I do plan to get some Flatt Shads! I have a bunch of Red Eye's so I thought I might try modding a few to get a different sound/no sound. Quote
Primus Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I've been very pleased with the Flat Shad, especially when I'm fishing clear water on a sunny day and my gut tells me a rattle will spook the fish. Quote
Super User Micro Posted September 2, 2009 Super User Posted September 2, 2009 The Yo-Zuri Live Bait Shallow Vibe is an awesome silent lipless. It's a little heavier than similarly sized rattling baits - since it is solid plastic. But it casts a mile and has a great action even at very slow speeds. Yo-Zuri suggests that it is soft, flexible plastic. It does a rather soft, very smooth texture, but it is not flexible at all. http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/ProdLiveBait/LiveBait-ShallowVibe.htm Quote
bmadd Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I tried gluing the rattles in a rat-l-trap and while it worked, the bait now weighs a little more. Sinks quite a bit faster than a regular trap. Quote
