Has anyone ever shipped a rod with the united states postal service? I am used to sending them with fed-ex but we have a conveniently located Post Office on campus. Thanks!! :D

I ship rods with usps a lot. Usually the rod and cardbboard tube weigh between 2-3 lbs so cost is about $12-$13 to ship to the lower 48 states. That does not count insurance. I learned the hard way that it's a good idea to pay for the insurance with rods.

I ship USPS with inexpensive rods in the <7'0" category. I can usually ship for right at $10 without insurance. For larger and more expensive rods, I trust UPS with my shipping but will pay about $30 total. (Shipping, tracking, signature, and insurance.)

I have always used UPS as I don't trust the post office.

You will pay postage depending on the weight of the packaging.

As stated above, INSURE the article and if possible have a delivery confirmation sent to you.

You can follow the package on the internet and see where it goes, or ends up!

Did you b =reak a rod or selling one? With the weather conditions in Radford not being that great for fishing I would be surprised if you broke the rod fishing.

And shouldn't you be studying or partying??????

I'll never again use the USPS to send anything important, just recently they delivered a letter I even had sent certified to the wrong address, idiots. Fortunately the folks who received it by mistake were decent enough to forward it to the correct address. They're every bit as efficient as you'd expect from an organization that hemorrhages billions of dollars a year.

USPS has worked fine for me. Definitely insure it. They give you a discount if you print ur label online. And deliver confirmation is FREE!

I have shipped a rod in the past with the USPS and they broke it. It was a MBR783C GLX and it was insured. I sold a BCR893 GLX on ebay around a week ago and I took it the my local PO to ship it and they refused. They said it was too long. I shipped it with FedEx for around $30.00 (Fla to Mo) and I was pretty happy about it.
