BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 24, 2012 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted January 24, 2012 Just from the pic's I will offer the following: 1. In it's condition the price looks good. 2. Fiberglass is going to be more comfortable to fish out of than an aluminum. (from a former aluminum owner) 3. I had that motor on on a 17' triton and loved the power and fuel economy. 4. The boat looks like it has been well taken care of. 5. It's rigged and ready to go I would say go for it. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2012 Super User Posted January 24, 2012 Sprints were GOOD boats, with a lot of forward thinking features. Get the motor checked, and if the hull is solid, I'd buy it. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted January 24, 2012 Super User Posted January 24, 2012 like others have said, if everything checks good jump on it! Jeff Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted January 24, 2012 Super User Posted January 24, 2012 Man, that looks like a sweet boat for that price. Like they said, if it checks out go for it. Quote
Christian M Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Definitely have a good boat mechanic give the engine, hull, & electrical wiring a good once over. Will the seller let you take the boat for a test ride? What is the trolling motor's power rating as far as thrust & volts? Is the Humminbird unit on the deck a GPS/Fishfinder or Fishfinder only? If all is well I agree with everyone else, jump on it. Do you plan on insuring the boat? Maybe a stupid question but out of curiousity do any of you guys know if there is a kind of "carfax" for boats? Quote
helms83 Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Thanks for the replies everyone. It sounds like a good deal, I hope it's not too good of a deal, if you know what I mean. Quote
scrutch Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 A good mechanic will be able to tell you if it's TOO good to be true. I have that same motor in a 125 hp version and it has been very good so far. My mechanic told me those Mercs were made very well. He should pull the sparkplugs and look inside the cylinders for scarring. That will tell you a little about how well it has been taken care of. A test ride would help you shake it out. Take your time and study the boat. Good luck. Quote
helms83 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Had a compression test done on the motor, everything checked out fine and the cylinders all came in at 115 psi. I think I'm going to jump on this deal for $6500! Quote
Ol Dirty Basstard Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I hoped you snatched that bad boy up!? Quote
