quanjig Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Just a tip on the lighter heads, make sure you run the hook thru the upper part of the bait. Doing that will put more weight of the bait below the horizontal hook line and give the bait more wobble. Quote
Brick Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 After searching for a while, I found this link. . I'll let you guys know how it goes. http://www.xtremecustomtackle.com/scroungerheads.html 1 Quote

quanjig Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 When it's open, Fountainhead regional park. When it's closed, lakeridge, bullrun, or hooes run. You should check out the Fountainhead bass club website. Buddy tx's, 6 fish limit. Some nice fish in that water. Ranked pretty high in Va.! Quote

Brick Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I might hit occoquan in the next couple of days, but I've been thinking about heading to west virginia for some trout, and smallmouth fishing too. Haven't decided yet. Quote
quanjig Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 All tx's are open to anyone who wants to fish them. Each angler pays a one time $10 insurance fee plus entry for each tx. Top 15 teams at the end of the year, + 2 provisional teams ( 16&17 provided they have fished every tx) fish the end of the year 2 day classic. Great group of guys, we have been doing this for 20+ years now!! Quote
hotrod Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Fished today on a private lake with a new buddy from another forum. He was kind enough to invite me up to his backyard lake for a few hours. Water was 40-42. We caught 13 total (his 10 to my 3) All healthy chunks. A couple pics Quote
quanjig Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Only two fish on the res today. This was the best one. Jb 1 Quote

quanjig Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Looks like you guys had much better success finding willing fish. I only had 2 bites and caught both. Second fish was a real knot head! Quote
Ej Thomas Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 What's up guys been enjoying the great weather my self and see you guys have too. Wished the camera on my phone worked. I had my own classic on that friday at the pond I fish at. Caught about 10 pounds on three fish. With some small guys thrown in . Two on the trap one on plastic, missed a good one on the swim bait. Went out today after hitting the bps spring classic, got a new reel went out to check it out caught a 4 and a 1.5. Got about 12 days before the season starts, cleaning and re-spoiling the rods and reels, starting to put a game plan together. Can't wait talk to you guys later. Quote

Super User Nitrofreak Posted February 28, 2012 Super User Posted February 28, 2012 Ej,Nitro, a-rig at Anna from what I hear! A-Rig is not for me my friend lol. I hear the same thing though, I think I am going to try and hunt them down as I normally do if I get the chance to go, I have been wanting to try some new things there for a while. Quote
hotrod Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Jerkbait has been a good option lately too. My 5.03 came on a pearl white fluke off a point with rock. Hope you get out there on Sunday and have a great Bday Nitrofreak! Quote
hotrod Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Tough day on river today. This and a dink were all we had to show for it! I got skunked on back of boat! Still a great day though! Quote
Ej Thomas Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 The Fom is on the 24th we are prefishing it as a club on the 10th. I just can't see myself throwing an A-rig. This is a jig year for me I am putting major focus on the jig this year. I hear so many people win on jigs and when a jig bite got me in the money during a tourney I was sold. Quote
Bigbarge50 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Nice work fellas, and any caught snakehead is a good one. Just curious and without judgement.... are A-rigs legal in VA? The whole world is going on and on about this thing and I do not even know for sure it is legal. I personally am focusing on another year of improving my jig game and flipping.... (and shakey heads) but curious about VA people being allowed to use em. To be frank my biggest concern is not people catching everything but me catching broken off a-rigs stuck in quality cover. hokiebass804 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Has anyone fished Sandy River recently? I'm heading home from Virginia Tech on friday and plan on stopping by with my boat and giving the place a wack... ive got alotta ideas but have heard the alabama rig has been doing pretty well. Even though im more of a jig guy myself i dont mind throwing anything if its gonna catch me fish! thanks and take care. Quote
