2011 Ranger Z118 with Mercury 150 Optimax, 8 " jackplate, 23p Tempest plus. If anyone has this setup or can help me out, please reply. I am trying to figure out the best height to move my motor to to get the fastest speed possible. I know this is not a rocket but I want the most that I can get without burning the motor up. What top speed, rpm, water pressure should I be looking for. So far I can not get it to turn the motor over 5450 rpm.

I have the same boat setup but with a ProXS......I have the prop 3 1/4" below the pad...I have run 62.5 at 5700.

On a side note, how do you like the boat?

I love this boat. This thing rides like a dream. My buddy wants the seats for his STV Euro race boat. I guess he needs a smoother ride, while going 109 mph. I just moved my motor from 2-3/4 to 3" bp and will test it out this weekend. I have a 23p tempest plus and, at that level, I can not turn it beyond 5500 rpm and 60 mph, but the water pressure dropped to 11 lbs at top end, so I am moving it back to 3-1/4 bp. What prop are you running and what is your water pressure? Do your gauges work along with your Smartcraft? Either my speedo is not working or it is not supposed to.

23 Tempest Plus....Water pressure is 12-14psi

You probably have some crap in your speedo pickup on the front edge of the lower unit!

Yes all my gauges work.
