Dinky Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 A week or two before the tournament you should get a packet of info in the mail giving the details of times/places etc. ; but the same info is usually available on-line at the BASSMASTER website at about the same time. There will be a mandatory check-in and meeting on Wednesday afternoon--usually 3 or 4 pm. Then the pros and marshalls have separate meetings to go over rules, parking, etc. normally about 1 hour. Then the pros and marshalls meet together and they announce the pairings for Thursday. You meet your pro and arrange when and where to meet Thur. morning. You can help them launch if you want to do so but if you stay in the boat you can only operate the trolling motor--or you can park the trailer--either way the usually appreciate the help--same for loading afterward--but--it can get late since they have to go through the weigh in. You do not need a jug. They do not make pit stops. You do need sun screen, sun glasses, water. You will get a hat and shirt at the Wednesday meeting to wear so you can be identified as a Marshall. Bring your own food water soft drinks. they usually have ice to keep stuff cold but may not have room for a six pack and a lot of food. You can take a still camera but not a video camera. The pro is required to have a PFD for you on board but everyone brings their own anyway At the weigh in Wednesday afternoon they will have posted the pairings for Friday with the pro's phone number and where he is staying. You can find him at the weigh in and make arrangements their or take his number and call him later. When he leaves the stage at the weigh in they give him a print out that has his marshall's name and phone number on it so he can call you. You will be allowed behind stage at the weigh in as long as you have your marshall shirt and cap on. Since you are from that area I assume you know about Dinasaurs in Syracuse. If you are on the list to be a Marshall on Saturday you will have to stick around the weigh in until it is over for a meeting where they will make the pairings for the 24 pros fishing on Saturday. msolorio Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 dont mean to hijack but how does one become a marshall? Quote
skeetercraig Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 go to bassmasters web site sign up it cost 100 bucks if they dont pick you for the event ya get it back Quote
Bass XL Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I too am registered to be a Marshall this year (Bull Shoals). When signing up it said I would receive a packet in 4-6 weeks, but I have yet to receive anything. Is there a possibility that I did not get the spot? I guess what I'm wondering is that when I signed up it said nothing is for sure until you get the packet, and if what you guys are saying is correct, and I get the packet a week or two in advance, then that would suck..I like to have stuff planned and arranged. skeetercraig Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 you can call bass masters and have your membership number ready and they can tell you if you been selected or your on the waiting list or you can check for yourself on the bassmasters web site under tournaments plus all the info is on there as to where and when you have to be at meetings and stuff like that , but i would say you will get the info in the mail 4-6 weeks before tournament so check into it and get your place to stay lined up early im workin on that now Quote
Five-Alive Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 WMD in Kentucky covered it pretty well. One thing he didn't mention was that when you show up for your meeting they gave you enough goodies to make up for the $100 cost of being a marshal. We received a long sleeve columbia shirt (that we were asked to wear each day) the shirt had a $54.99 price tag on it and then it was embroidered with a BASS logo, we als received a BASS hat, a yamaha hat, a pack of worms, a really nice ESPN coffee mug and a $25 gift card to Bass Pro shops. I marshaled at Smith Mountain lake in 2010 and it was a very positive experience. I did get paired with some fantastic anglers and downright good guys, Terry Scroggins, Denny Brauer and Gerald Swindle. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I received my packet yesterday and will be on for the 3 days. Quote

GrizzlyAdams Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Hope you had a good day on the water today. I was at the weigh-in today and Ike crushed it, i really wanna see him off the classic bubble. Im glad Chapman is doin good too. I met him last week and talked and im really rooting for him for AOY. Also rooting for Rick Clunn to make his 33rd classic. Its gonna be a killer weekend. Quote
Zach Dunham Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 What an amazing three days. Day 1 I was with Terry Butcher. He was cool but didn't talk that much. Day 2 I had Bill Lowen, much more fun to be out with. Day 3 I had Fletcher Shryock. He was awesome to hang out with being only 1 year older than me, it was like hanging out with a friend. It helped that he had a great day 3 and made the final 12 cut also. This was such a great experience and I learned so much in a short period. I will be doing this at the Elite Series event at Thousand Islands next season for sure. Worth the 100 bucks and more to do this. Quote
