Shimano.

Because I am a Shimano guy.

Both are very good selections and you can't go wrong.

But for me, it is Shimano.

Saros. I have three 3000 series. They come with an extra spool which is nice. The 3000 is the same body size as a 2500 series and has the oversize handle. There were a couple on the Flea Mart recently with PICs and looked to be in great shape. They really are a terrific reel. I have to agree with 00mod on the Stradic option.

Both are great so I don't think you can go wrong. I did have a rubber part break on my saros though that caused it to bind up bad until I removed it. I have three quantum energy reels and they have worked great. Really like the magnetic bail that quantum uses instead of a spring because the bail doesn't snap close mid casts nearly as often.

Agree with the Shimano guys. I like the looks of many Quantum spinning reels, and even own two baitcasters which I really like.

But for spinning I use two Stradic 1000 FI models. Love the size for bass fishing, brought in some hefty chunks on these with nary a problem. Drag is flawless. Saw no need for 2500 size or above. But that's me. I feel comfortable hauling in a 10 lber on a 1000 FI. I trust the Shimano hands-down.

Not so sure about the new white Stradics, though. The Saros is just a step down from the Stradic, and a solid reel. I looked at them, but ultimately went the next step up.

You won't regret it (the Saros or Stradic).

As someone stated they are both great reels and at that price they are even better buys. I'd go with the Quantum personally as I have both a number of the casting and spinning models purchased new and used and have never had a problem with them at all. Despite the abuse of a lack of cleaning at tmes they still perform flawlessly and do everything I ask of them without an issue.
