Super User ww2farmer Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 When soft plastics get "low", like down to the last 2 bags of that perticular size/color/style of bait, I usually bolster the stoc of that bait with a bag or two. Hard baits usually get restocked also when I am down to one or two of that bait. I keep my boxes full in the boat and have "reserve stock" back at the house that I refill the boxes with. I buy alot of my stuff when places like TW have sales, or when I get gift cards for xmas etc.... Quote
loodkop Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I buy gear whenever there is a bit of spare cash lying around. ( Not often enough) I think about new gear when I'm awake and might even dream about it as well. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I have enough stuff to last me the rest of my life. If I post a photo I will end up on that TV show, Hoarders or Intervention. I do need some tubes though. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 I WILL STOP RESTOCKING WHEN MY BAIT MONKEY TELLS ME TO STOP !!...he is 40 years old now how long do bait monkeys live? Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 Its like an addiction. If you only took it as far as melting a plastic worm in a spoon and the shooting into your arm. Quote
zip pow Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I stock up about seventy to a hundred dollars a week fishing tackle is like crack you just can't get enuff Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 Winter is 4-5 months long in my part of the world. The first couple winter months I clean the boat and tackle. As I'm cleaning and repairing my tackle I evaluate how equipment, tackle and techniques performed for me during the last fishing season. If I wasn't happy with a piece of tackle or bait I dig through the closet and tubs in my fishing room to find a suitable replacement. The same time I read the web boards to see what others would use as my replacement. If I find I need a new piece of equipment and/or bait, I jot it down on a shopping note pad to be purchased on a trip to BPS or Cabelas sometime during late Feb. or March. I give myself most of the winter to mentally evaluate options so that I'm not "impulse" shopping. oe Quote
Super User senile1 Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 I make note of what I have depleted every winter and then I do a full restock. During the spring, summer, and fall seasons I will replenish anything that I run out of that is necessary. It is a pretty basic process. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 When Do You Guys Restock Your Tackle? Everyday, I´m a tackleholic Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 Did my wife start this thread??? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 21, 2012 Super User Posted January 21, 2012 Did my wife start this thread??? Pretty silly, huh? I only buy lures when they are for sale. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I usually buy a couple of the new lures out during the classic but I have 3 big tackle bags full of tackle so I'll just reload my main bag and boxes from those bags. I tend to get stuff as I run in and out of cabelas so no need to really make too large a purchase to restock my bags. Quote
A-Rob Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Black friday is usually a good time I like then, or whenever the budget says I can afford to haha Quote
jignfule Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 When I'm close to running out or when they are on SALE!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Hound_dog Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Inventory and restock in the winter for most things. If I run across something I haven't used in awhile then I usually will pull it out of my go to boxes and will not buy anymore of them. If I run low/out on something during tournament season then I will restock. I try to keep it down to a big restock just once during the year. The big thing that usually comes up for me is the one bait the bass seem more to want on a particular day is the one I don't have in the boat! Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 21, 2012 Super User Posted January 21, 2012 Chromedog, guess what? I know one of the Zoom wholesalers and I picked up the following at the Richmond Fishing Expo on Friday, January 20th: 1 bag of 100 favorite and double secret drop shot worms for $5 1 bag of 100 other worms for $5 1 bag of 100 other worms for $5 2 bags of Alabama Rig swmbaits for $2 each and 1 KVD Sexy Shad Hollow Frog from Green Top Also scored the last two Wilson Frazier DVDs on sonar and got to meet the Professor. If you have not viewed the first two DVDs of the Professor I suggest you secure them. Extremely educational and the Professor tells you the secrets of setting up your GPS/Sonar unit. So I have started stocking up for this year but still have other items to purchase when the GreenTop, BPS and Gander Mountain sales begin. Let the Bait Monkey rejoice!!!!! Quote
