GrundleLove Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 So i just upgraded my current boat...well, i guess i shouldnt say upgarded since the old on is still sitting in my yard but my 1990 bass tracker that i just bought has a working cassette or a track..something like that player in it. And before i got my Ford Fusion my old Grand Am had a Pioneer CD/mp3 player which i took out before the car was junked. And i was thinking...it really cant be that difficult to swap out the two right? maybe some minor modification if at all...i know this means dick unless i got pics and stuff but the boat dont get dropped off until next week but just wanted to know if it was even worth it. Super User J Francho Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 Usually you'd install a water proof marine model in a boat, but if it's collecting dust, I don't see the problem. Make sure it won't get wet. Quote

Im not too worried about it like you said its just collecting dust Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 It's just a couple of wires and maybe some filler in the front depending on the size difference between what you took out and whats going in. If you decide to keep the 8 track, I would bet there might be some older members here with some 8track tapes kicking around not getting use... Quote

Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 Wait. You have a boat with an 8-track player in it? How awesome is that?! 1 Quote

JIGFISHERMAN. Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Almost as awesome as if it had a paddlewheel on each side. No way, I'm with Robert....8 tracks have nostalgic cool, appeal. Always wanted to add one in my Comet Convertible, but never got around to it. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 Used to have an 8 track adaptor to play cassettes back in the 70's Could rock out with modern technology in the car Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 Used to have an 8 track adaptor to play cassettes back in the 70's Could rock out with modern technology in the car That technology back then is the equivalent of today's Ipod. Quote
Christian M Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Shouldn't be too hard, just re-wire what was already there. U might want to think about adding an I/O switch with an inline fuse if it doesn't already have something like that installed. It is pretty bad *** if the thing has an 8 track player in it tho lol Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 19, 2012 Super User Posted January 19, 2012 Used to have an 8 track adaptor to play cassettes back in the 70's Could rock out with modern technology in the car I didn't think this thread could get any better. Awesome! 1 Quote
