Packard Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Actually, yes, I fish quite well thanks. Yes J, I fully understand kneel and reel. I guess a better question would be how often you fish deep cranks? I mean truthfully, sounds like you know what you want, but at the same time you don't. Glass rod, composit rod, graphite rod and all the others. Do you have an ideal how each type of rod will react with the bait and line combinations? I'm just trying to help you make an informed decision, I've only been fishing about 3 times as long as you have been in this earth lol! I think J was talking to nwibass. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 20, 2012 Super User Posted January 20, 2012 It's all good, I knew where you were going. Quote
lmoore Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 For the record, you will only see about a 9% increase in casting distance from a 7' to a 7'8" from pure length alone. The tip action and how it transmits force to the lure will have a larger effect on the casting distance of your lure. Quote
nwibass Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Do you? Never heard of kneel and reel for depth? Yes I do it all or the time and that's why I want a longer rod so I don't have to, in a sense, "kneel", I would be able to just put the rod tip in the water for extra depth. And Quanjig, I have been fishing avidly since about 12 I am now 17. Quote
quanjig Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 47 y/o. You do the math. I have a little more experience as well as others on this board. Questions are good........ To a point! Trial and error are a part of the learning curve. Best part of the community of fishermen here is that you can gleen from the info provided here to make better educated decisions on the questions you ask. Just sayin'........ Quote
