Need Travel Rig

Im going to be traveling to Boston this summer for my honeymoon, and Im going to be doing a little fishing while im up there. The future wife has given me the OK to purchase a rod and reel to take with me.(No you cant have her, I found her first) I was thinking of getting a 2 piece rod, and something to carry it and a reel in with some tackle. I do use 65# Spiderwire, so I need a rod that will handle braid. As far as a reel, well for both together I am trying to keep it around $200 + or -. I already own a Pro Qualifier, Curado, Citica, Enigma, Prolite, Johnny Morris Signature, and Extreme baitcasters, so Im leaning on buying something I dont have already. Was looking at the Abu Garcia Revo S, but Ive also had my eye on the new T3 Ballistic (which puts me over $200 just on the reel, but has anyone used one, and are they worth the $?) by Diawa. Whats a man to do?

Why don't you get a two piece St Croix Premier and use one of your current reels? I don't see the need to buy a whole new reel for a travel rig.

There's a limit on irregular shape hand carry, you might want to check your airlines. Last time I travel to HI, I had to check in my 2 piece rod. They charge me $30. After that I went for a 4 piece travel rod. Albright has a sale on casting travel rod for $79. Just bring in your farorite reel plus a backup reel and you are good to go.

The Albrights look interesting at that price. For about $150 Cabela's has the 4-piece XML. I have a couple and they feel really good with lots of sensitivity. Occassionally they go on sale for a great price. I would be very comfortable using only the XML's on a trip.

I didn't even go long pole fishing on my honey moon, and I average around 320 fishing days a year. Stick with the wife and room and you will have more fun. I PROMISE! Now that I think about it we only left the cabin for meals, and that was with me being grudgingly drug along. Most wonderful seven days of my life.

Funny story, we bought new gear and even planned our honeymoon around a place in Quebec with a lake right outside the lodge...we fished about 2 hours; it sucked, and we had way more fun doing other honeymoon-type things...

The Albright fly rods are great for the price; I can't speak to the casting rods, but they're a good company.

The wedding is on St Patricks Day, right after we ae headed to Disney. The trip to Boston is a trip after I graduate my Paramedics course. Its gonna be a post honeymoon you could say. Anyway, I couldnt help myself but buy a reel the other day when picking up some baits at Bass Pro for next weeks tournament at Lake Okeechobee. So since Ive been looking for aa new reel, my eye caught a glimpse of a reel I dont remember ever being there before. Looked, played, bought. Diawa TDPro 7:1. Used the hell out of it yesterday, amazing! Ifvyou purchase one, tear it down and lube it first. I dont thmink they do a good job from the factory. After I did the lubing it worked soo much better. Matched it to a Team Diawa rod, new favorite! P.S. Still need a travel rod, haha.
