Hi everyone.

I have already made a few posts asking a few questions, but I have yet to properly introduce myself.

I'm 18 and I live in San Diego. It is currently my first year at San Diego State University. I started Bass fishing about a year ago. Before April last year I had always wanted to catch a fish (let alone a Bass), and I started attempting to around last January. After 3-4 months of being skunked... I finally caught a Bass (aprox. 5 1/2 Lbs.) Needless to say, I was hooked (no pun intended) from then on.

I hope to get much better at introducing myself, as well as fishing and this forum should help me a lot!

See you around!

- If anyone is in my area, it would be nice to have a chat. -

Welcome- I live in Tennessee now but I did live in San DIego for two years. I lived on the Submarine Base at Point Loma. Love that area.

I just realized that I lived there before you were born. I left there in 1986. Anyway, welcome. There is a great deal of knowledge on this site..........Al

I live in La Mesa and love it here. I've had pretty good luck at the lakes around here. Dixon is by far my favorite. You can even rent boats there for very reasonable prices. The worlds largest bass was caught there. (25lbs. 1oz.) foul hooked so it wasnt legal, nevertheless Dixon does produce some big fish. Its not just bass either. The trout average about 5lbs and have been caught up to 15lbs. The catfish are huge, though I never fish for them. They stock the lake often with trout and that provides great feeding for the bass along with lots of Bluegill and shad. So if you fish it use those types of colors. The water clarity is great and because its not a big lake (its actually a reservoir) it makes it easier to locate them and find trends. The sight fishing while they're spawning is a blast. Ive had great success with crankbaits and jerkbaits throughout the year too. I primarily fish Dixon because the kids love to camp there and it also offers rock climbing and a nice picnic area where my wife and kids hang out while I'm on the water. The shore fishing is pretty good but for bass the boats make it a lot easier. You can look up the site online. Just google Dixon reservoir San Diego. it has fishing reports, prices, a map of the lake and lots of other info. Good luck and tight lines!
