Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 17, 2012 Super User Posted January 17, 2012 Ain't hunted Fox before. Coon on the other hand its the only other hobby I have beside fishing. I swear its the most fun hunting I've ever done. Haven't gotten to go as much as I've wanted to this year though. Squirrel hunting comes in close second to coon. Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Super User Posted January 18, 2012 Yeah the hounds not mine there a buddy's I met on a forum like this but for predator hunting in new york. The 2 with the fox were running walkers and the old guy with me and the coon is blue a 11 year old blue tick. Iv never hunted with hounds but now I'm hooked man is it a blast iv been working the wife over trying to see if I can get a puppy of the guy he breeds blue ticks. She don't like them or beagles he'll any dog with that bellow bark but me and Noah my 2.5 year old got her thinking bout it especially when he goes "mommy I want a boo kick coon hound" Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 That's adoreable. Once we get this stupid town house fixed up and sold, and get our house. My wife said we can get a pair of red bones. I can't wait for that day to get here. Im just happy she likes hounds. Not many woman care for em. Definitely an acquired taste I guess. Before we had to get rid of her we had a Great Dane Blood Hound mix. When we got it we thought it was a Blood Hound lab mix. She was 68 pounds at 6 months old. That dog even went to work with me. When I started going out of town for months on end she had to stay at home. Christie would try an take her for a walk and couldn't handle her. She wound up getting two broken fingers within a 2 month period trying to walk her. Its been five years now and I still miss that dog. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted January 18, 2012 Super User Posted January 18, 2012 So waht kind of prices are you guys getting for a prime pelt these days? Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Super User Posted January 18, 2012 So waht kind of prices are you guys getting for a prime pelt these days? Not sure I kept the fox pelt to tan and hang in my sons room we are re doing his room in camo and fishing stuff. The coons I let nick keep he takes all the pelts to auction he's already got 30 fox like 10 coyotes and 40 coon. I'll probably keep mine to sell next year but with me deploying at the end the month wasn't really worthit so what ever I get I skin and give to him. From what I hear though prices are really good lately highest in quite some time Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 'Coon hunting with hounds is fun until they get on a bobcat that jumps from every tree as you get close and they're off again or a fox takes'em to the next county. Quote
