Super User *Hootie Posted January 13, 2012 Super User Posted January 13, 2012 Just curious, does anybody here still use round reels for bass fishing? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 13, 2012 Super User Posted January 13, 2012 Two CTE200GT and one CTE100GT. These reels are strong, smooth, silent and reliant. They are built to last a lifetime. After more than a decade of primarily being used for stripper fishing with one of the CTE200GT, the reel performs better than when it was first taken out of the box! Quote

tholmes Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Just curious, does anybody here still use round reels for bass fishing? Yep! I have four round Ambassadeurs that I use regularly. A 5600CL Rocket, a 4600C, a ProMax 3600 and a 5500C3. They're rugged, reliable, relativly inexpensive, easy to work on and parts are readily available, even for the older models. Round reels are just more comfortable in my old, arthritic hands. Tom Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I have 2 Ambassadeur C3's in service and a C4 on the way. I also have old Ambassadeurs that are used but less frequently. Quote

Wish i could...unfortunatley all my money is tied up at the moment..if there are still some left on monday i definatly will....Funny thing was that they had it on a clearenced citca sticker ($49.99) so i asked them if that was right and they quickly said no and put the right clearence price of $138.99 on there. It did about kill me to walk away without one. I was going through all my options to try and justify getting one but ultimatley just couldn't do it. Quote

I picked up one of those te200gt's used for my dad for $195.00. I went through it, cleaned and lubed, then stuck some abec 9 bearings in it before I gave it to him. I was REALLY impressed with this reel. Before the new bearings the spool would spin for 8-10 seconds. After I put the abec 9's in it spun for 32-34 seconds. Quote
JDuncan Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I love the way round reels look, i have a abu morrum that gets used less than it should. Im like an alzheimers patient. I see a nice round reel buy it. Put it on a rod, then try to wrap my petite hands around it unsucessfully. Luckily my girlfriend can cast a baitcast reel so we go cat fishing once in a while and it makes me feel less guilty when she uses my round reels. Quote
