Good Topos Of Briery Creek ?

i was wondering if anyone know where i could get a nice topo of sandy river and briery creek at any help is appreciated big laminated maps are preferred !! thanks guys

I have not seen any GMCO maps of these bodies of water so I woudl think you may have a difficult time finding a professional printed map of these waters.

You may want to contact George at GMCO Maps (via Google search) and ask George if he knows of any topo maps.

In the meantime, go to the Prince Edward County web site and look for their Agriculture and Environment Department for links to the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service and give them a call. They may know where you can get the topo map.

You can also contact the Piedmont Soil & Water Development Department to find out what they know.

The Central Virginia Regional Library may also give you some direction.

I have an aerial photo fishing guide map of the Chickahominy River from Bass Chumps Publishing, c/o Printing Services, 107 York Road, Towson, Maryland 21204. Give them a call and if they are stil in business maybe they can be of help.

Tangier Productions, Inc., 7701 Flippo Drive, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22408, 703.898.0832 may e of assistance. They maybe able to guide you to a topo map service.

You may also want to Google "topo maps" and note what pops up.

This is your first quest for 2012. Please let us know what you find out.

I used the acmemapper web site and printed the Satellite photo on white paper, then printed the same settings with the Topo view on a clear sheet. Then put the clear sheet on top of the photo sheet and had it laminated.

If you want a larger size you can take the prints or the digital scan to a place like Staples and get them copied on larger paper.

I have some parts of Sandy River and Briery Creek done that way to show others about the lake, but I don't need to use them.

How dumb on my part not to suggest contacting you regading these two bodies of water.

Good suggestion you gave.

I am going to try to remember to ask George of GMCO at the Fishing Expo about getting topo maps. I called a place in Richmond many years ago but they did not have the maps.

I would think someone beginning to fish Sandy or Briery may use the maps however after fishing these bodies of water for a summer you should get to know them in detail.

Reelcrazy, I spoke with George of GMCO Maps and he said that he does not think the federal government has any topo maps of either Biriery or Sandy Creek.

He did suggest trying to find the originals or copies of the original maps when the two bodies of water were dug.

The only published maps are on the Va. Game Commission web site. Select the lake on the Lake list and click on the map link. I have seen a map done somewhat like I do that is part of a "guide to fishing Briery Creek Lake" done by a guide I think. If was worthless for my use though since it was a satellite photo of the area before the lake was built and the topo overlaid on it. Some contour lines in a forest is tough to read.

I have some original paper maps of both, but the Briery Creek one is not very good. The one published by Prince Edward County for Sandy River is about as good as you will find--still only has 10' contours though.

It's not nearly as good as what Wayne would come up with, but it does help a little ( I have the map of Briery put out by this company, and it works well enough).
