kingfisher85 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 i bought a few spinnerbaits and grabbed a few different colours. ive got one with a skirt that has yellow, orange, and green and it seems to work the best.. i tried a couple that were like black and white, one has black red and white, while another in almost all red... i havnt got a single bite on any of these.. does anyone else have any luck with black and white or black and red or just all red?? Use ONLY Stren Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 You can fish any color spinnerbait you want as long as its chartreuse/white. ;D ;D And no I never fish a red spinnerbait, black sometimes if the waters real muddy, but mostly chartreuse/white. Quote
skillet Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 White, chartreuse or white and chartreuse are pretty much go-to colors. Bought a sexy shad lately and haven't given it enough time. Usually save black for low light or night... skillet Quote
EdKras Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I use chart/white most of the time. Smallmouths hate it in a good way. White when it's cloudy. blue shad when it's sunny. Black at night. golden shiner when that is the primary forage. I carry all of the colors but usually have chart/white tied on Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted August 26, 2009 Super User Posted August 26, 2009 All white, bleeding white, chartruse/white, and white shad.. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 i normally throw white and chart. or black and white.... with the most luck between the 2. i do have some confidence in a black and chart. combo as well, though this has netted far less fish than the 2 mentioned above. Quote

kingfisher85 Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 i also bought one that had both blades and skirt were orange and yellow.. pretty bright almost neonish.. as far as im concerned it turns the fish off more than anything.. probably wasted a bit of money on those but thought id try them out.. just another learning experience lol.. adclem Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I mainly throw all white and I have multiple blade configurations. If I want to add some color to one I just use JJs to change it up a bit. Later, Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted August 26, 2009 Super User Posted August 26, 2009 I fish very clear water, and my most productive spinnerbait has a translucent skirt with chrome double willowleaf blades. On some days, for some reason, the firetiger spinnerbait really produces. The only reason I can think it works so well is because the bass are feeding on yellow perch. The only time I use my all black spinnerbait is, low light conditions. Hope this helps. Falcon Quote
spotaholic Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Clear Water...Glimmer Blue or Firecracker with double willow nickle Stained Water...Chart/White with col/willow combo with the willow being gold. Dirty Water Chart or Red. Big Gold Col Blade Quote
basser89 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Water clarity and light level determines where I start with skirt and blade color. Some of my most productive skirt colors are: skirt color (water clarity) translucent (gin clear) white/black scale (clear) white/chart (clear to stained) blue/green (clear) chart/pink (stained) solid chart (stained to muddy) bluegill (clear to slightly stained) black/blue (stained to muddy) firetiger (stained to muddy) Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 26, 2009 Super User Posted August 26, 2009 I throw white, chart, or white/chart. If the water is murky or its at night I might try a black spinner, but usually its one of the above three. Quote
D4u2s0t Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 i've purposely broken all of the color rules, and I can tell you that color is not as imortant as people think. I have seen practically no difference between white, black, chart, sexy chad, watermellon, etc in terms of performance. Why do people say black works best at night? simple. someone else said that, so they used black, caught fish, and said "yep, that was right. Black is good at night". Other colors would work well at night too. Just like you don't have to stick to certain colors in certain water conditions. People use these guidelines like they're the bible. After doing some tests, Color is of the least importance while i'm selecting a bait. Use what you like, and what you have the most confidence in. Confidence is key. Like any sport, and anything in life, if you think you will fail, no doubt, you will. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Lately I have been throwing white and will try white/chartreuse Quote
