Hmm...

John Elway is one of the Elite Quarterbacks of all time. I moved to Denver

the same year John joined the Broncos. We lived in the same area, belonged

to the same golf club and interacted in youth sports. He has always been a

gentleman and astute businessman. Elway is respected by his peers and, of

course, his many fans. His accomplishements as a professional football player

are epic.

Class Act? I think so.

Even Elway won't commit to Tebow.

There was nothing hard about the throws he made last weekend. Not sure what defense Pittsburgh was trying to play, letting the receivers get behind them so much. Only guess they figured they would get pressure on Tebow so he wouldn't have time to make the longer throws.

He was still only 10 for 21, with some very bad throws. Until he can play a full game and consistently make throws I will not believe he will be anything more then a media gimmick.

The future is in question for every player, the same goes for Tebow......bottom line the Broncos with Tebow made it to the playoffs and the Broncos with Tebow won their playoff game and that's all that matters. Will they keep winning? "On a given Sunday", you just never know.

Forget about draft day?

Elway is the original diva of the NFL draft. He didn't want to play for the Colts, so after they drafted him with the #1 pick, he demanded they trade him. If they didn't comply, he threatened to forget about the NFL and pursue a career with MLB. His two seasons with the Yankees' minor league system gave him the leverage to make this plausible.

Total ****** nozzle.

Tebow had a quarterback rating of 125.6 for the playoff game. According to an article, that is a number for the likes of Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Roethlisberger. A perfect rating is 158.3, something which Kurt Warner achieved in three games.

Only 10 for 21, with an average of 31.6 yard gain per pass.

What has been said about Tebow needing the receivers to do their job can also be said about Brees, Rogers, Manning, Brady and Roethlisberger.

Tebow had a great game, period. Why try to minimize it when it isn't done to the other quarterbacks mentioned above. Is he in their class? Not yet. Maybe never. But for the playoff game against the Steelers he certainly was.

Does anyone remember Doug Williams the Redskin quarterback who led the Redskins in thrashing the Denver Broncos with John Elway. He set a Superbowl record leading the Redskins to five touchdowns in the second quarter. He was named MVP of the Superbowl. He had a losing record as an NFL quarterback, but in the game that counted the most he put on an unbelievable show. For that one game, he was the best quarterback alive.

I remember watching that game. I don't recall a single article or interview where his grand achievement was minimized or downplayed. It was a performance to be appreciated. So was Tebow's last weekend.

Doug Williams was an above average QB for his career, but most of it was spent with the Bucs, so hence the losing record. I think Joe Willie would be a better comparison. one good season, one good game, and he's a legend. He has a losing record overall, and threw 50 more pics than Tds, yet his legend supercedes all of that, kind of like Tebow, so far.

That doesn't quite wash. Joe Willie never got the negative press then, nor to this day that Tebow has, which actually proves my point. My personal opinion is that much of the disdain for Tebow is his religious profession. So what that he kneels and Tebows after every touchdown. It's certainly more becoming than the pompous look at me celebrations that other athletes perform, not only after a touchdown, but after they've made a tackle or got a first down. For some reason, Tebow's actions after a touchdown is derided while the other meaningless trash talking celebrations merit hardly a word.

By the way, Tebow is not the first to kneel in thanksgiving and acknowlegement of his God. Why his act of humility gets under the skin of so many is very interesting. I'd bet a hefty hunk of change that Tebow would not be getting all the negative press and reactions from fans if he kept silent about and made no display of his faith.

One other thing that needs to be mentioned about Namath. He had a bad set of wheels, playing most if not all of his professional career wearing knee braces. Considering that handicap, he did pretty well.

Tebow gets just as much good as bad press, he gets more press than Cam Newton, a far superior QB than himself, but his polarizing stances get him the press. Joe did get negative press, remember his bachelor status and the ads he did?Joe also got his bad knees from years of scrambling around, because his line sucked and he was a "playmaker" and if you remember, Doug Williams, he brought the Tampa franchise to the playoffs like 3 out of 4 years, and was paid worse than half of the 2nd stringers in the league, then asked for a raise and was told to fly a kite, so he went to the usfl and did well there, then came back and only started because the starter was hurt. First black qb in a super bowl, and still the only one to win one. ( I love talking old NFL!)

I don't think that is true, people just say that to mess with the Christians who care nothing about football and have misplaced the future of their faith in this dudes hands. Fact is it's actually against Christianity to celebrate in such a manner. When you bring something to everyone's attention as often as this guy is brought to our attention then you are gonna have people questioning the validity. Get real people, there is no divine intervention in a football game. Not saying that you do that, just I think the reason people rail on him for his religion is to get Christians riled up. I just think he is not much of a quarterback, at least Joe Namath could throw it. His problem was he was so confident that he would throw it in very questionable places. Tebow just ingrained a horrible motion that he may or may not be able to overcome.

There are many who love to find fault with the anyone who is revered for their celebrity, talent or anything else that sets them apart from the crowd. When anyone gets the press that Tebow did coming into the league, rocks will be thrown at every opportunity. The Germans even have a word for feeling pleasure or joy for someone else's misfortune-schadenfreude. I think that is in play with young Mr. Tebow.

Tebow appears to be a charismatic leader who doesn't pretend to be anything he is not. Time will tell if he has the talent to be a superstar. I hope he does. He has already proven (to me anyway) that he has humility and integrity. I value those above his skill to throw the ball or read a defense.

This is not an attack on anyone or anything. Just my opinion.

While there is certainly a portion of the bad press coming from people because of this show of faith, there is an equal or greater number of people praising him because of it. On a purely football standpoint for his position he is below average at this point in time. For him to be on a team playing in the superbowl will take a defense like those of the 85 Bears or Ravens in their Superbowl year and a big running game. And even that is a huge question mark until he can show a full game against stronger teams. Not a game where he gets to play pitch and catch in one quarter and one play in OT.
