nvhsaccel Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Hey guys, just joined the forum! Anyways, I have noticed that my red eye shads haven't been swimming properly lately. Especially when I burn them, they just flip to their side and they never run true anymore. I love the bait but this is frustrating. Any advice? Quote
NCLifetimer Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 What knot do you tie them with? I've found that when i use a loop knot on crankbaits/lipless cranks (vs. one that tightens against the split ring/lure) the lure runs truer. Google "non slip loop knot" its the one im talking about. Not sure what is the root cause of the problem, but a loop knot might solve it. Quote
NCbassmaster4Life Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 What is the weight of your line and what kind of rod and reel are you using? Quote
fmoore Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Just bend the eye on the top of the bait a little bit to the opposite side it's running to. If you go too far, it'll run on it's other side. Keep adjusting until it runs true Quote
nvhsaccel Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 Thanks guys, ill give these a try. I was using 6:4.1 gear ratio with a 7' M rod, and 20lb power pro. Quote
piscicidal Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Bang it with a rubber mallet. I'm not joking. Quote

jig Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Just bend the eye on the top of the bait a little bit to the opposite side it's running to. If you go too far, it'll run on it's other side. Keep adjusting until it runs true ive had same problem with some of the red eyes and bending the eye (tuning)does not work at all. Quote
