I attended the game and Alabama was by far the superior team.

George Jefferson of LSU either was on drugs, laid a bet the wanted to win or just his ordinary incompentant self.

General Lee did not play as he may be on academic probation as he stopped going to class after his girlfriend left him. At least that what was being said in NOLA so Miles had to stick with George. Bad move.

I had a fantastic time in NOLA. The highlight was meeting with three of the New Orleans Mafia's Wise Guys. Their stories about the mob were funny and we must have been with them for near two hours.

Have a great shot of me, my friend Ronnie and the three guys.

One was an enforcer and he looked like a WWF wrestler. One was a bank robber and highway man who robbed banks and jewelry stores. The third was the best. A real Wise Guy for the Gambino family. The all worked for the New Orleans Mafia, which is long gone, and their take on why President Kennedy was killed was amazing.

The knew all the players; who gave the OK; and why. But that is for another time to discuss.

The French Quarter was rocking. If you have never been to the French Quarter try to go, especially during an event like the Sugar Bowl or Mardi Gras. I have seen just about everything you can think of in the Quarter so be ready to see some things that you don't share with your preacher.

The Alabama and LSU people got along beautifully. No fights or arguments. Just a lot of Roll Tide and Geaux Tigers.

The food was fantastic, too. I had two roast beef poboys. The best was from Serio's. Outstanding! And an oyster loaf at The Harbor in Kenner was one of the best I have ever enjoyed.

We sat in the Beau Rivage's Superdome Suite and had some good food, too, but nothing like the oyster loaf and poboys.

Probably last trip to NOLA other than for family funerals and weddings. I would like to go back and do some fishing if possible. Best fishing in the world is in Louisiana, especially for bass and redfish. And crabbing is fun, too.

Other than LSU playing like a high school team, the trip was fantastic!!!!!!

Everyone have a great New Year and I hope you catch your personal best in 2012.

Glad to hear you had a good time. Sounds like it was awesome. Also glad to hear you made it back in one piece.

I almost went red fishing in Venice, LA and was going to stay in New Orleans. I dumped my graduation money (high school) on a trip to Cayman and Jamaica, then spent rest on a trip to Lake Guntersville. I'm still waiting one day to go red fishing in Louisiana. Maybe this Spring when I graduate.

It's actually a pair of things, or, if you're lucky, pairs of things. A number of years ago, my daughter and one of her girlfriends almost got arrested for displaying their respective pairs. Not surprisingly, I didn't find out about it until years later.

Hey Dan did LSU looked like the belong in that game at all?

As an undefeated SEC champion who had already beaten Alabama, yes, they deserved to be there. Who is to say OSU would have fared any better? I think it would have been even uglier if it had been any other team.

And thanks for bringing that up how do we know we know which is better out of OSU, Houston, Bama, or Bosie State? Go ahead and talk about strength of scheduler and who lost to who and blah blah blah. This is sports anything can happen.

Even the best teams loose games they shouldn't and one of the things that make sports great is when the little guy takes out the big guy.

Think of some of the greatest moments in sports (USA vs. Russia in Olympic hockey) or (Texas Western vs. Kentucky Basketball 1966) these where truly great games because the team that had no business being there won.

Sure on paper Bama was unstoppable, so where the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA finals and look what happen.

The only reason I had OSU was because with the BCS system they where the only other team who had a chance who also matched Bama's record.

I just want to point out that I am taking nothing away for Bamas team or fans. I don't doubt Bama played there heart out and they beat LSU fair and square. I'm just saying that you guys got a second lease on life because some media guys voted for you, which seems like a lame way to get into a National Title game and why the BCS is ********.

OSU, Houston, and Boise State won their conferences and becasue of that deserved to be the only teams eligible to play again'st LSU in a Nation Title game.

Really? Even though those teams lost at least one game and played in weak conferences they deserve to play more than Alabama....who plays in the unarguably toughest conference and still only had one loss to the reigning #1 team by 3 POINTS!!! If we are looking at one loss teams, you can't honestly tell me teams that lost to Iowa State, Southern Mississippi, and TCU should be put ahead of a team with one loss (by 3pts) to the #1 team?

And if only conference champs should be allowed to play each other for the NC, then why only mention the three teams that you did? What about the ACC, BIG10, and PAC12 champions?

Yep they won their conferences, did Alabama do that...Nope

who plays in the unarguably toughest conference and still only had one loss to the reigning #1 team by 3 POINTS!!!

Sorry a loss is a loss and I don't care how good the team that beat you is. Like I said even the best team can loose to worse team on any given day. Same thing with conferences. Doesn't matter how good one conference is compared to another, you have to win those games no matter what.

Bama didn't win the game against LSU hence they lost the chance to win there conference end of story. All the other conference champions might have also lost 1 game but they still won their conferences.

You SEC guys love to brag about how great your conference is. Well there are two sides to that, one is that your going to have the face the fact that only 1 team can be the conference champion and only that conference champion has the right to play for a national title game.

I don't care if all the other conference champs had 5 losses, if you won your conference you deserve the right to go on to bigger games

Which is why we need a play off system. All the conference heads get to go again'st each other and the may the best team win.

The whole idea behind a playoff is that the top teams can prove themselves by beating other top teams. Its the great equalizer because once the playoffs starts nothing you did before that matters, every team is equal to every other team.

Bama was not the best team in there conference hence they didn't deserve to be in the nation title game.

Any argument you make is pointless because at the end of the day Bama didn't win the right to go to a nation title game all they did was impress a lot of media guys.

And if only conference champs should be allowed to play each other for the NC, then why only mention the three teams that you did? What about the ACC, BIG10, and PAC12 champions?

You are so right I did forget about them. Looks like a PLAYOFF SYSTEM would clear up this little problem.

Yes, clearly Alabama didn't deserve to be there. They proved that by beating the #1 and only unbeaten team in the country. They obviously aren't the best team in the country and would have lost miserably to Houston or OSU or any other conference champions; champions who lost to teams like Southern Miss and Iowa State...

Puh-lease.

I don't care how good Bama is on paper, if they where soooooooooooooooooooooooo great they would have won their conference but they didn't. They got "voted" in they didn't play their way in.

Let me bring you guys up to date as to what happned right before kickoff in the LSU locker room.

The following is from three independent sources however I cannot say it is gospel. But one of the sources is an insider from Shreveport who has followed the Fighting Tigers very closely for over 30 years.

Let me set the stage:

T-Bob and a group of the offensive linemen went to Miles and asked him to start General Lee as they said they could not win with George Jefferson. Seems George was hitting the booze and gambling pretty hard at Harrah's the week they were in New Orleans.

In the meantime, General Lee's girlriend left him and he went to pieces, leaving LSU and driving home to Texas thereby missing his MBA classes and not graduating in January as he had promised Miles.

Miles and his staff had worked very hard to obtain the services of a 5-Star Rivals lineman that was going to get the General's scholarship. But with Lee still in school and graduating this coming May, there was no scholarship to give and LSU lost the recruit to Awbunn.

Miles was livid. Lee had ruined the recuritment of a very talented player over a girl. So Miles told Lee he could dress for the game but he was benched.

Miles took what T-Bob and the other guys said in the wrong way. Miles thought the guys were telling him how to run the team and he got mad. The truth was that the players were asking Miles to consider starting the General to screw up Saban's mind and that they knew George Jefferson was not up to the task, even if he did not drink and gamble that week.

When word got to Jefferson about the players meeting with Miles, George, the high class guy he is, got into a fight with some of the players in the locker room.

So now George is upset; Miles is upset; T-Bob and the General are benched; the offensive line is PO'ed and refused to block for Jefferson and when the Offensive Coordinator begged Miles to put in the General, Miles got mad at him and refused the request.

So I hold Miles totally accountable for the fiasco.

Thank goodness our defense was as strong as it was or the score would have been 42-0 by the half.

Right now I don't think I will travel back to Red Stick for any home games nor go to Awbunn or Bamasux or to **** City to see the FightingTigers play anymore. And I will not be going to any future bowl games as it is too expensve and I can't stand to be in the stands when the team loses.

Take the explanation for what you want. I cannot vouch for it other than I heard it from three totally different sources.

When I was at LSU we lost to Ole tick 15-7 when Jimmy Fields and Lynn Amadee got into a fight at halftime in the locker room.

Hey, football is a game and I must admit that I had a fantastic time with my Bamasux friends and other Bamasux folks in the Quarter.

Ok, you keep talking about Alabama being good on paper so I guess you didn't watch them play this year. They clearly played their way in, I cannot understand how you think getting beaten by Iowa State is "playing your way in." You are too hung up on the conference championship thing. THERE IS NO PLAYOFF SYSTEM. Conference champions don't play conference champions. Why do you seem to think that is how this system works? I understand that is how you want it to work, but that is not the criteria being used right now.

With how disparate the conferences are right now, it would be ridiculous to award a MAC or WAC champion with placement in a game with the SEC champion when there are 2-4 teams from the ACC/BIG10/PAC12/SEC that could beat the MAC/WAC/CUSA/MW champion 9 out of 10 times. I'm sorry but I don't want to watch a champion from a big conference demolish some bulls*#t team that comes from a conference that had only 1 team that had been ranked all season.

Does a WAC champion deserve to go to the playoffs more than an SEC runner-up that would crush them 99 out of 100 games?

How dare you use the name of a very fine general in the place of a mediocre quarterback. How dare you!! :)

Root Beer, funny.

We have called him General Lee from the start.

Sorry he did not have the qualities of the real General Lee.
