Super User Sam Posted January 12, 2012 Super User Posted January 12, 2012 Richmond, Virginia is unique when it comes to snow. First, we do not have the equipment to move it rapidly so the roads get clogged fast and traffic is a disaster. Second, we have a mix of northerners who can drive in the snow and southerners who think they can drive in the snow. Makes for a fun time on the road. Third, when it snows in Richmond you are supposed to go to the grocery store and then drive into a ditch!!!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 12, 2012 Global Moderator Posted January 12, 2012 Well it's finally happening, it's snowing out here. Watching it on the cameras outside while I'm at work. The pond in front of the building isn't frozen yet but it isn't supposed to make it over 30 tomorrow so I bet it is by the time I get to work tomorrow. It was a good run, just hate to think that it's over and the only fishing I'll be able to do is on my day off if I go to the powerplant lakes Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 12, 2012 Super User Posted January 12, 2012 Enjoy the winter, you ain't missing much down here. Myself and everyone I know haven't seen a fish for any inshore activity, we refer to it as the ("winter doldrums"). The weather has been too rough to get offshore for small boats, there was a tournament last week 1170 sailfish caught over 3 days, lead boat had 43 in 1 day, but those were all larger boats. My local bass fishing stinks, doing it everyday but very unrewarding, I'd almost rather be back in Michigan in front of my fireplace.........well almost! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 12, 2012 Super User Posted January 12, 2012 Snow...dosen't bother me, I don't love it. But It always melts so it's not the end of the world. I like the cold, which BTW, we have NOT had enough of this year to make safe ice. I'll take the weather up here any day, I lived in Florida for 2 years in the mid 90's.....no thanks. I like the change of seasons, and while we get some hot weather, it's usually only for short spurts, not for months on end. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Now I know why AJay is turning to the dark side and will be deep cranking this up coming season. Snow will do it to you every time. Here in the northwest it's rain. Rain will drive you to skip docks. It's uncanny what weather will drive you to do. RED lives in Waco and suffers through 110 to 117 degree days for months. Yeah.....he throws square bills. There has to be some form of treatment for this. Those poor buggers who live in Hawaii have the drop shot affliction. Sad, very sad. 2 Quote

We have about 11" on the ground SW Michigan and are predicting 6" more before morning(lake effect). Got the ATV with snow blade out and cleared drive, a place for the dogs to go potty, and walks. F---- THE SNOW. If I never see another flake it would be too soon. I will be in sunny Fla next year regardless. Kelley Quote

Kelley Kelley, weren't you just telling me about how you had wished for a little more of the fluffy stuff.....something about building snowmen and making snow angels I think. LOL I got lucky and missed out on most of it, only got about 5 or so inches......stay warm my friend! Quote

Been watching it snow a couple inches here this morning and I am looking up reviews for a deep diving crankbait rod and some more DD22's. Seriously, not joking. Dobyns glass 765 in the lead at the moment! Quote

Seriously, not joking. Dobyns glass 765 in the lead at the moment! I have the 705 and 704 glass. We got 4 inches but it melted off in 36 hours. The result was my spending half my shift thursday night working traffic at mud slides over the roadway. Now that deserves a Dobyns 765, right ? Check youtube for the kid that is cranking DD22's in Conn. and uses a 765 and see that load and flex with some nice smallies. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 22, 2012 Super User Posted January 22, 2012 Not seeing the problem with this white stuff yall refer to as snow. Or the frozen water yall refer to as ice. Well that was a nice break. Gotta get back to my fishing. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted January 22, 2012 Super User Posted January 22, 2012 Thanks FnP... that's a great advertisement for that rod and makes me want it even more now! http://youtu.be/DpvJsqtnszg Quote
