As we all know power and action rating vary from manufacturer to manufacturer (i.e a medium power fast action from abugarcia will not be the same as a medium fast action from daiwa). But what about different rods from the same manufacturer? Will a Medium power fast action on Vendetta rod be the same as a medium power fast action on a Veritas rod?

Thanks for your input!

As many things in our lives, rod powers and actions are a continuum while we try to pigeon hole them into a five step scale. The short answer to your question is no.

No expieriance with Abu Garcias, but amongst St Croix's they differ. A MH/Fast Avid, is a quite a bit stiffer/stouter rod than a MH/F Legend Tournament. A 7' ML/fast Triumph spinning rod is softer then the same rod in the Avid series.....Avids all together seem to be stiffer and more powerfull than there counterparts both above and below them in the St Croix universe.

I find Saint Croix's tapers fairly consistent in both power and action.
