This just mainly for clear water situations? Not alot of clear water where i live. I dont hear of alot of people doing it around here either. Whens the best time to do it?

the best time is anytime if your fun fishing.. good for tournaments if you just need a few bites and the fishing is tough, not always a very fast way to fish. if the water is fairly murky use a bigger lure that will put off some vibrations. a 7 inch berkley power worm is a lure i would reccomend if you want to drop shot in dirty water but small natural looking worms and minnow immitations are common in clear water

also don't get discouraged if you arent catching fish the first few times you try it it took me quite a few trips to get the hang of it.. the less action you give the lure the better in most situations, that was the hardest part for me to learn i have trouble being still while i'm sitting on the couch let alone keeping my hands still while fishing... just think about it like this, the waves on the surface of the water are moving as much as your little lure is on your line and that is plenty of action its not natural for something to be sitting there bouncing like crazy while its sitting in one spot.

For me drop shotting is one of the best as long as the fish are suspended.

I stink at DS from shore. Dragging a split shot rig seems to produce even in stained or muddy water. Maybe it's making enough racket to get noticed.

DShotting vertically from my boat is fun. It really helps spotting them on my bird first.

A drop shot rig is a great way to add life to a plastic, while keeping the bait in place.

I need more practice casting w/a spinning rod, LOL. Nice job.

I think the single most often cast I make with a drop shot is a pitch. Learn how to pitch with a spinner, and you'll get that goofy rig where ever you want it.

Drop shotting could work in all waters. Keeps the bait in the strike zone longer but can excel in clear water. Had to resort to DSing today on 2 lb test to get bit :cry4: water clarity was about 30-40 ft down.

My dads friend graphed the fish suspended off the bottom a little ways the other day so hed drop it down to the bottom and reel up a few feet and he was catching them like that.

I love using our lowrance and maps to find structure and fish and then just plopping down and catching em. it feels rewarding

Drop shot anywhere at any time.

Great rig to use during the entire year.

Experiement with the depth.

Do what the pros do: use a jig as your weight to have two presentations.

Tight Lines!

Try dropshotting a swim bait on Bed's.
