basskng21 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Once i tried putting bb,s in crank bait. this worked greaat, it made much more noise than rattles. itis also cheaper to do. you just buy your favorite hallow crank bait you drill a hole in top of the bait put bout ten bb,s in the hole epoxy over the hole to seal it off (sand off any extra epoxy) Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 Not really all that sacred, either. I don't know of any crankbaits that have been declared as holy. 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 Nothin' new about that idea, but if you want rattles, buy lures with rattles... 1 Quote

Haha had to read the post more carefully to pick up on that one! I agree with roadwarrior. I think it's smarter to buy one with rattles than risk ruining a bait to save a few bucks. Even if your craftsmanship was perfect you could still change the bait just enough to throw off its action. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 How is it cheaper? Do cranks with rattles cost more than cranks without rattles? 1 Quote

Crankenstein Crony Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I think it's smarter to buy one with rattles than risk ruining a bait to save a few bucks. Even if your craftsmanship was perfect you could still change the bait just enough to throw off its action. Messing up the bait would be my biggest concern. Most likely you are going to ruin the bait, so you are out $4 or $5. Then to replace that bait, it's going to be another $4 or $5 to buy a new one. Companies make rattling crank baits and silent crank baits for a reason.... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 5, 2012 Super User Posted January 5, 2012 I guess I'm the real dummy in turning rattling baits silent. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted January 5, 2012 Super User Posted January 5, 2012 I guess I'm the real dummy in turning rattling baits silent. No, see, that's perfectly...wait... No you shouldn't ever do that. Ever. Quote
