Scorcher214 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Lions Should have won it. When Titus young caught that touchdown and it wasn't ruled a touchdown, I about lost it. We have the ability to review plays in a matter of seconds and get the call down to the field. Why don't we? The challenging? I hate challenging plays, we would have gotten the touchdown if we didn't have to challenge two plays. The first "fumble/down" (In lions favor) was definitely right. The second one (Greenbay's favor) was also right. But since we got the first one right, why should it cost us anything, it was the ref's fault. GB is a hell of a team. Matt Flynn is a starting QB is a secondary position which is great for GB and congratulations to him for the record. 4 points. 4. Fudging. Points. A touchdown. The touchdown the ref's called out because they were not wearing there glasses. And don't say it wouldn't have mattered, it would have. We had to take attempt a field goal which we missed. I know, lions are still in the playoffs, but now we play the Saints, in New Orleans. Our outlook doesn't look to well. Congratulations to Matt Stafford as well for throwing for over 5000 yards, only the 4th QB ever. Even if we dont make it to the Superbowl this year, next year, we will be there. Matt Stafford, obviously amazing. Calvin "Megatron" Johnson is currently the best WR in the league, along with Burleson, Young, Scheffler, Pettigrew as our other WRs. A good defense despite today's showing. And our offensive line is getting better. not great but it's getting there. Our only problem is our running game. Oh if only we had Barry Sanders. I never watched him play but watch highlights, and oh my lawdy if we had somebody like him......Perhaps the draft will give us a good RB. The lions are not what they used to be. I feel better now. I don't even want to hear that. At least yall are going to the playoffs. Which I dare say does brighten my mood a good bit. Even if yall did beat us. I've always liked Detroit even when they couldn't buy a win. So hopefully they will do very well and advance quite far. I dare not say anymore lest I jinx them. Now, I believe I will go back to skulking around the house. Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Ya, I'm no NFL fan, but it's nice to get behind the local/underdog team. From what I've watched this year, some improved o-line play would help. Would be nice to pick up a veteran, but still very good linebacker also.... Best might be OK. He's just been hurt.... Quote

But even when he was well, I'd say our running game lacked. He's good, and I think he just needs time to improve, like Stafford and Suh, he is a young player and can only get better. I'm just so excited for what the future holds for this team. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted January 2, 2012 Super User Posted January 2, 2012 Come on,I watched the game and i don't know what game you were watching but Green bay had a LOT of bad calls against them also. The fact you guys lost by a second string quarterback who Lions made looked better than Rogers and Star together. Detroit should have won? yeah I agree,Green bay sat out a lot of their star players, yet still scored over 40 points and still beat Lions. Now ask me again if they should have won? Nah they deserved to lose. What are you guys gonna do when Playoffs comes and you guys are up against Green bay again with their star key players in? Let's fact it,Lions don't have a chance pass 1st round of playoffs.I can already see it PS If I ever see SUH in public I will give him the middle finger straight to his face. I HATE his ego and attitude on the field and from what I read in the paper he's not much better off the field either. With him on the team I don't and won't root for the lions. I hate him on team,he makes the whole Lions organization look bad. What dawns on me is how can Detroit fans support him? I don't get it. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted January 2, 2012 Super User Posted January 2, 2012 It's a pity it's taken this long for Calvin Johnson to have the opportunity to play with a QB who could get him the ball. But it's certainly nice to see now. Quote
Super User Marty Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 PS If I ever see SUH in public I will give him the middle finger straight to his face. Be careful, I suspect he might be a little bigger than you. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 Be careful, I suspect he might be a little bigger than you. Won't bother me....I hate guys like him and expressed it before. I didn't grow up in white suburbia....I know how it works. Hopefully he'll mess with the wrong dude and get himself killed.Usually what happens around here anyways. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 Bit of an over reaction to Suh..........it's game, some take it a bit personal. As a native Detroiter I can understand the fans wanting a winner, whatever the cost, been since 1957, Karas was no nice guy either, fans loved him. I listened to that game on the radio, most of you guys weren't even born yet. Remember the Bad Boys, they lived up to that moniker...........Pistons hadn't won anything for decades until 89. Fans just ate up these players, their personas were bigger than life. Rick Mahorn may have been the filthiest, off the court the nicest.......he flew to Asia and Europe in the off season doing basketball clinics for kids. Flint, Pontiac..........make inner city Detroit look like Beverly Hills....well almost, lol. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 Flynn is a free agent and it will be interesting to see if he will stay at Green Bay in a back up roll or go to another team for lots of money. And if he goes to another team will it be a loser or potential winner? Can't see him going to any team in Green Bay's division. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Let me say I am a packer fan. I didn't watch the game so I cant comment on the catch. You guys should not be blaming the refs. Refs screw up calls all the time. Ask glen about super bowl 40. Its happens all the time in every sport. I have seen blown calls with my teams. I just move on and get over it. Now if remember right the lions needed the Falcons to lose. If The falcons lost would you guys still be crying over a blown call. No because you would have been a five seed. You figure that at lest there in the playoffs be happy. If they play like how they did this year next year. They could be back next year. Quote

detroit1 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 The Lions deserved to lose that game. Yes, bad calls for both teams, but that is no excuse. The Lions biggest problem for the last month or so is they are not getting pressure on the qb, which in turn hurts their banged-up secondary. ANY qb in this league can have a good day. I don't expect a win against the Saints, but i don't expect a loss either. Which team will win? We'll see. Grimlin, you can hate if you want to.. his car accident, and his explanation of it, is the one thing that bothered me more than his suspension. Hopefully he will mess with the wrong dude AND GET KILLED? I don't understand? Did he pee in your Cherios? Congrats to all the teams in the playoffs..and may the best team win..(sorry Packerfan, it won't be you.) later..... 1 Quote

Either he walks and GB takes the comp pick, or they tag him and pray he doesn't accept the offer. I can see a tag and handshake agreement, with another team, a real possibility. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 8, 2012 Super User Posted January 8, 2012 Schwartz is such a tool. I was happy to see him lose tonight. He reminds me of that one pompous kid we all grew up with; the one with a sense of entitlement because Mommy and Daddy have money. Apparently his cute little faux-hawk didn't bring him any good luck tonight. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 8, 2012 Super User Posted January 8, 2012 I think the deciding factor in the game was the inability to stop N.O. running game, especially Thomas. Being a Lions fan I'm disappointed that they didn't advance, not that I thought they would, but overall they had a great comeback season. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted January 8, 2012 Super User Posted January 8, 2012 Regarding Suh. I don't follow professional sports much, though I used to. I did catch Suh stomping on the other player, and agree that there is no place in any sport other than MMA for such actions. However, aside from that act, I've read much about Suh leading an exemplary life, giving much of himself to community service and helping others, as well as being a good family man, and that this action is not typical of him apart from the football field. Maybe he should be cut some slack. Sound familiar? Quote

I'll give Detroit that much. Rather packers win another bowl or not,I can't see AFC winning the Superbowl this year. I think the NFC has it locked. 1 Quote
