I live in Illinois which as everyone knows is a neighboring state to Missouri (home of Bass Pro Shops). Last week I placed an order from

them and I still don't have it. Originally the tracking information said it would be here the 18th which I thought was odd. It shipped on the 12th so why would it take so long. Well the 18th came and went and I did not get my package from BPS. Now the tracking information has the 20th listed as the delivery date. 8 days to get to a neighboring state is just ridiculous. So far my stuff has been in Minnesota and Iowa, but it hasn't made it to Illinois yet.

Sorry, had to vent.  lol

Personally, I think it's a ploy by BPS to get you to pay the extra for quicker service.

Their standard shipping is the pits, period.  It has taken ten days for me to get an order after being notified it has been shipped.

As I understand it, orders shipped by their standard can wait for days to make a single step in their journeys.

They ship the cheapest possible way for them, which means that packages shipped via standard are at the bottom of the priority list for the USPS, UPS or FedEx.  They are the last items to be loaded for the next destination.

I know of no one else who ships their product in this manner.

If you need something, pay the extra five or six dollars for the three day delivery.

I rarely order tackle online. For a couple reasons. One being the same thing you mentioned here. The other being, I have this need to actually lay my eyes on what I am getting. The only ones i have ordered online have been stuff I have used before and donated to the lake gods.

I do not buy from BPS a ton, but when I do, I am fortunate enough that I can just drive to Concord, NC and check out what they got. Truthfully, there are a number of local shops in this area whose prices can easily compete with BPS and if they don't have something a lot of them will try to order it for me. Always liked giving cash to the little guy over the big corps.

Sounds like par for the course for Bass Pro Shops.

Sorry guys, I order most of my stuff from BPS and have never had a problem. when they say it will be here it usually is. I always go to Concord for the Spring Classic. They have some great deals during that time. The sale used to only last one week. When the sale paper came out you could get everything in it that week. Now the sale is 2 weeks and the best deals on the best items are only on certain days. Like zoom 1/2 off on Monday...Mercury oil 1/2 on Tues. Now this is BS in my opinion and my only gripe with BPS.

The little guys around here want a arm and a leg for their stuff. I can order it and pay shipping and still get it cheaper. Dick's has 6 small aisles......Gander Mtn is a absolute joke! We had a Sportmans Warehouse which I am truly missing right now.

I'm lucky in that I live close enough to a BPS that if I need something I just go and get it.

When ordering online *** seems to rein supreme (unless I'm ordering jigs or soft plastics from *).

The longest UPS takes from one point in the continental US is three or four days.

Same for FedEx.

I've ordered from Cabela's and got my order in three days, standard shipping.  On one occasion, two days.

From BPS it never takes less than a week.

I never said they mislead about the time one can expect delivery.  I will reiterate that their shipping times are the worst/slowest of any online company I've dealt with.

Why is it that Tackle Warehouse, Cabela's, ***, ***, and JJ's Magic to name a few, manage to get their product, some the same product as BPS, to my door in three days, while BPS can take up to ten, unless you want to pay to get it quicker?

I believe the last part of the above paragraph tells it all.  It's about the money.

I have had similar experiences with BPS and SLOW shipping and it been getting progressively worse.  We are getting a store here in the DM, IA area and I will frequent that, but my days of ordering things from BPS are OVER.  I order from Cabelas and Tackle Warehouse now..

I totally agree. If you are not in a hurry and can wait BPS will have it to you in 7-8 days. They want you to pay for the quicker shipping or they will take their time.

They have horrible shipping

Have misrepresented rod and reels in combos, even the fellow who was defending them had to admit this was the case on at least one. He has a financial relationship with BPS and offered some lame excuses. There have been many threads, around all their sales flyer times to attest to this happening more than once

The store in Memphis was a great experience for me

however the store in Harrisburg is staffed with rude  staff. Refusing not only for me, but others here, as stated in threads to match their own Internet prices, when other wholesalers do!

Their shipping charges and pull/ship time are horrendous.

I cancelled my account with them a long time ago

If they stay comfortable with all this they will tank

I must be very lucky. Every time I've ordered from BPS, I've gotten my orders in 4-5 days. One time, they sent the wrong size shoes, when I called to notify them of the mistake, they overnighted the shoes with Fed-EX. I hear all the complaints, and I've had nothing but good service.

I just got an order from BPS in 3 days. I had to upgrade the shipping though. If not they usually take forever. They dont seem set up well for online sales and shipping like say Tackle Wharehouse is.

I have yet to have an issue with BPS shipping wise! Orders always arrive when they say they will. I did notice that the order takes 3-4 days to get there whether i pay for the faster shipping or not!

Soo you guys that like BPS service must like the idea of paying a shipping rate based on dollar amount? I don't get it. :-? Order a few ricos or lucky craft baits, something expensive, and then see if you are happy with the price to send a 4 oz package. They gotta pay for all that hyped up advertising somehow.

I was told by the lady at BPS that they do not use UPS.

She said they use some division of FedEx (can't remember the name),

but I guess FedEx has the freight for a while and then they pass it off to the US Postal Service. The USPS then actually delivers the freight.

I am not sure if this is a new practice or not becuase the UPS guy used to deliver all of my BPS shipments. We used to joke about how often he was at my house.

I ordered from BPS a number of months ago.  The shipment went via UPS.  I was amazed,  the order left their facility in Springfield and was at the UPS sorting facility in Earth City, Mo. in less than 24 hours!!

Yippee!!  I'm going to get my shipment early,  Earth city is only 27 miles from my house!!!

It sat in the sorting facility for 4 days before it was put on a truck to deliver to my house.

So, it sounds like it probably got there when they said it would (3-6 days)!!!

What's the problem?

I think this is a legitimate complaint,,,i buy from cabelas when ordering online if they have what i want....bps takes too long on shipping and its on their end ,,,,,they dont get stuff out their door like others do...and with cabelas they always have deals or specials for 25 bucks off or 20 off or free shipping etc,,,

X2

I'm usually there at least once, maybe twice a month. When I do order, never a problem. I always ask them that if an item is out of stock to let me know ahead of time and they always comply.

Communication can't hurt. Also, I use their live assistance and that works great.

Maybe you are on their list! :(

Who do you ask if something is out of stock online?

I am not talking about in store purchases or orders.

I am strictly talking about online orders. I have ordered

from them dozens of times and their service is always slow,

but tolerable (about 4-5 days). This time it took 10 and that,

in my opinion, is way to slow.
