Avid Vs Duckett Micro Magic

I have narrowed my selection down to either avid's or ducketts. Has anyone fished both or have any personal preference between these two. Any advice would help. I am going to buy 3 rods in about two days. They will be paired with a curado 51e, chronarch 200e5 and chronarch 200e6.

Avid for bottom contact baits and Ducketts for everything else. The Avid is more sensitive IMO, but also a little heavier.

Dobyns Savvy!!!!!... duckett tips are too soft for bottom contact(jigs texas rigs, carolina) but theyre good for flipping cranking, etc(everything else).. anyways... i have an avid and i dont really like it, my dobyns savvy is more sensitive

If I had to choose between the two I'd go with the Avid. But if you haven't already considered looking at the Shimano Crucial or Cumara, then I think you should.

I have used and tried the ones that you have mentioned. Now for me my opinion i would go with a Kistler helium micro. i have compared that rod to my avid, duckett, dobyns and crucial and the kistler is hands down a better rod in my opinion. Now it is more money, so to keep that price range of $150-$160 i would go with either a dobyns or duckett. I personally really dont care for the avid for some reason. i had the 7ft mh and it was very tip heavy and heavy in general compared to the others. now for a spinnerbait rod i really like the avid 7ft m/f for this application, so my point is just handle as many rods as possible and see which one feels best to you.good luck

I'm not much of a fan of the Avids either, particularly the bulge in the handle. I haven't used a Duckett, but I've held them in the store and they feel pretty light. I don't like that they can't bother to list ratings for them or the color scheme. For the bottom contact applications in your price range, my recommendation based on my experience would be a Crucial or Powell. If it'll be used for moving baits, my opinion would be to save some money and get a Abu Garcia Vendetta. Very solid rod for the money.

I fish both and i'd go with the duckett, and i would not agree at all with the ducketts tips being too soft. If you can try to handle both rods and see what you think of them.

I own the 7'6" med heavy "fast taper" and the tip is too soft imo, not good for deep jigging, etc. great for pitching docks and flipping in weeds.

I would take the Avid over the Duckett and I would take a Crucial over both. I have fished all 3 rods and in my opinion the Crucial is far superior in every area.

I would agree with this, however the 7'6" XH XF would probably be the rod that you were looking for then, that blank to me has the perfect action for my pitching needs

if its between the two id go with duckett. I have both and both are 7'6" MH the duckett was about 40 dollars cheaper that times 3 gives you 120 bucks to blow on other fishing stuff.The crucials are about 20 dollars more than the duckett. Both are good rods though and you wouldnt be disappointed either way you go. To most people it will be a preference thing not a dislike in the either rod
