longrange11b Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Hey guy's, I am just recently got back into fishing and I am absolutely hooked. I am trying to build a well rounded arsenal of rods and reels. I just bought a curado 51E, chronarch 200E5 and chronarch 200E6. I am trying to decide on rods to match with these reels and I am having a hard time because I am not extremely knowledgable as to which type of rod i should use for what. I know most sites will say what the rods are good for but I was some people's personal opinions about what they would use with these three reels. I figured I would use the curado 51E for finesse baits or weightless plastics. The 200E6 for worming and kind of a all purpose rod and the 200E5 for crankin'. Any input would be helpful as to what rods and what applications i should use with each of these reels. Thanks Quote
nwibass Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Put shimano crucials, or duckett on all of them, and choose size and action according to what you're going to be using it for. Shimano crucial rods balance out well with their reels so I would suggest that, I like me crucial and duckett about the same. Go into the store and feel the rods and see what you really like the action of. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 30, 2011 Super User Posted December 30, 2011 Personally this is what I would do, 51E on St Croix 7' medium power/fast action rod, the 200E6 on a St Croix 7' MH/F rod, and the 200E5 on St Croix 7' MH/ Mod. power crankbait rod. What series you put them on is up to you, the make those powers and actions from the Triumph (except the MH/Mod.) all the way up to the Legend Xt. , if you can afford it ,IMHO I would have them all as Legend Tournaments. If you want to save some $$ with out losing too much performance, get the Mojo 7' MH/mod. for the cranking rod, and avids for the other two. 1 Quote
longrange11b Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I have been leaning toward the duckett rods. I really like the feel of them and i can't help but to love how they look with the new chronarch's on them. Quote
longrange11b Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 also i have read a lot into the micro guides while researching the duckett's. Does anyone have any experience with these guides? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I also favor the St Croix line, but what ever brand you go with, Farmer's advice on power and action is good. Quote
