Favorite Drop Shot Lure

im new to drop shot fishing, but im committed to getting good at it this year....

so what are some of your favorite lures to use? i just was to know the best ones so i can start there.

I got into it late last season, so I didnt have a huge amount of time with it. But i found the Roboworm to be hands down the best. Had luck with a Zoom trick worm and a Gulp! leech. Next season im gonna try a Zoom lizard and a LFT magic shad. I would start with a Roboworm though, thats what most people told me to use, and it was great advice.

But your standard Robo worm is hard to beat too.

Light drop shot baits or bubba sized? I had a few days last year where I got good results on the Power Bait crazy legs chigger craw and on the Gulp sinking minnow. Both in a green pumpkin color. One caveat with the sinking minnow, be committed to it for a while, because as soon as you set it down on the deck it shrivels up and is worthless 5 minutes later.

I fell in love with the Strike King 3x 4" finesse worms last year. Caught lots of fish, many big ones, and didn't even use a full pack. Other than that some other favorites are 3" Senkos, GYCB shad shape worms, zoom tiny flukes, and gulp minnows.

When nothing else works, a gulp minnow on a dropshot rig is my go to.

Where are you from in West Virginia? I'm From the Northern panhandle and mostly fish the Ohio River, but travel up and down the state fishing all the different lakes and rivers. If you do fish the Ohio, Gulp minnows (3 in.), small tubes and Roboworms all nose hooked. But my best producer on a dropshot for all the rivers and lakes in West Virginia has been a wacky rigged Flick Shake worm. Hope this helps.

Hard to beat that bait on a drop shot. I nose hook it about 90% of the time. If things get tough, I'll try a Chompers 4" worm. These are sooooo stinky (with garlic) that the fish sometimes turn on to them in a big way.

Yep, Chompers 4" dropshot worm. They work on jigs and split shot rigs too. I started drop shotting some flies, clousers. The tactic shows promise.

Can't go wrong with Roboworm. The Zoom finesse worms are pretty good. My buddy likes the Big Bite Bait Shaking Squirrel, but I can't say for myself. I haven't tried those yet. Nice thing about all 3 brands is they are pretty cheap so once you find a couple colors you like you can buy a bunch of em with out breaking the bank!!

I usually rig my drop shot up with a zoom tiny fluke. My next choice is a hightail holehot 4 3/4" finesse style worm. I find that it has more tail action than the zoom finesse worm does.

I prefer nose hooking it. It is hard to fish it wrong.

Another dropshot bait would be the Jackall Cross-tail shad. They look like nothing, you don't impart much action to the lure, but they produce.

I like Jeff Kriet's big bite baits for my dropshot, but I am also looking to try something new as well.
