Super User A-Jay Posted December 29, 2011 Super User Posted December 29, 2011 Does anyone have experience with this series of rods? I've always been a Fenwick fan and these look pretty sweet. I found a very reasonable price on them and I'm very close to pulling the trigger. A-Jay http://www.fenwickfi...at.php?k=472009 Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 As a rod builder, this is one of the few production rods that I like. The color is rich without being gawdy and I like the grip/reelseat combo design. Is the fit and finish good? The 6'9" makes a great stream smallie and/or dock skipping rod. 1 Quote

I'll let you know - they are en route at this time. As you are a rod builder, I did something you probably never have to do - I bought them (on line) without ever having ever seen or even held one. It's all about research, reputation and first hand knowledge, if available. Living in the North woods does not provide access locally to a large selection of higher quality tackle. But it does provide a nice local population of fishes. btw - I'm sending you a pm. A-Jay Quote
The one that got away Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 A-Jay - I have the 6'9" ML spinning rod and I love it. I'm a big Fenwick fan too. I'm just a recreational weekend angler, but I can appreciate quality equipment. Mine was a free replacement for an old Techna AV that broke (that was a sad day). I sent the broken Techna AV and they sent me the Smallmouth series rod. They had called me after receiving the broken rod, explained about the new Smallmouth series rods, and I picked the 6'9" spinning rod. Great customer service. They had to wait until after Sept 1 to send it me because it wasn't available to the general public until then, at least that's the way they explained it to me. Someone on this board a couple months ago had a similar question as yours. I commented on that thread too; I assume you could probably find it if you do a quick search 1 Quote
