When I'm bank fishing at the lake front ( too rough to take boat out), I usually get kids gravitating towards me, I guess I'm easily approachable. I've often had parents ask me to show their kids how and where to cast their baits, and tie a knot. It's a good feeling and hopefully that afternoon fishing sticks in their memories. Quote

RobertBG Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 great pics,last trip out there was a guy with his 6-7 year old daughter teaching her to fish.It was a off day and no one was doing much but when i hooked a 4lber they came to watch.After I landed it (ul gear #4 line) I looked at her dad for the ok and then we showed her how to hold and release it.They might not have caught much but she did end the day with a smile. Bass Slayer 72 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I love this thread, my mother was an avid angler and she taught me a lot about fishing, now that she is passed I have spent considerable time teaching my children, and I confess that I get a deep satisfaction watching my daughter catch fish and spending time with her on the water… I hope she will always take time throughout her life to fish. 1 Quote

jessallus Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Ive been taking my kids fishing at our tank. It is easy to catch the little perch out of their. They get so excited when they get a bite. I took them on their first kayak fishing trip last weekend. We have alot of learning to do but I think they enjoy it. 1 Quote
The Rooster Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Here is my 3 year old granddaughter getting into fishing. This was last fall and wasn't her first trip but it's probably the first one where she was old enough to comprehend what was going on. She did manage to catch her first fish on this trip though. It was the crappie, and on my line. I casted a roostertail out and asked her if she'd like to crank it back. She did and that crappie grabbed it. Once while taking pictures the fish wiggled and caused her to get nervous. That's what's going on in the picture where she's looking at the fish in a scared way. But she didn't drop it, she just held onto it and then let it go. 1 Quote

The feelings these young fishermen are displaying are the ones I felt and are with me every day I go out. A precious gift to me from my father. Quote
