Went home to East Texas for Christmas & had to bring my rods. My parents live on a small private pond that's always been fun to fish. Mostly dinks with a few 3's and 4's. The largest bass that I had ever caught in this pond was a 5 pounder about 6yrs ago. That is until 2 days ago this beauty. Brought my tackle bag down to the lake with me so I happened to have my measuring tape and a cheap spring scale. 21" long, 18 1/2" around & a hair over 7lbs. Beautiful fish. Caught her on a lipless crank burning it along trying to get a reaction strike.

Not only was it really fun to catch her but also made me feel good that she was so healthy in the little pond. This last summers drought really hit this pond hard. As you can see in the pics by how low the water level is. Hopefully we'll get a lot of rain in the spring.

That's a nice X-mas Gift !

She has got to be the Matriarch of that pond.

Congrats

A GREAT healthy-looking fish, a real fatty, and just wild that she grew up in that little pond! Like A-Jay said, she must be the matriarch!

To paraphrase Forrest Gump's mom: little ponds are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get...

Fine looking fish for sure! Appears that she is doing great and at the present water level (if it's legal) you might want to transplant a few bait fish from a nearby larger body of water. She'll thank you for it ;)

Bassman, the coloring and patterns of the fish are beautiful. I like when they have those lines on the sides of their face, like indian war paint.

That's a wicked good looking fish you got there man. Almost looks like a smallie color wise! Love the three dark stripes under her eye. Beautiful!
