Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 WTG freebie! I've been trying to take advantage of the warm temps, but have not been able to get out there. Perhaps I should get a 2012 License and some non-tox jigs and hit it on Sunday! Quote
grampa1114 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Sweet work buddy...hang in there as long as you can. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 28, 2011 Super User Posted December 28, 2011 Nice! It sure makes the off season shorter. I haven't been catching any panfish, but I'm not throwing a Mepps. Mepps was my favorite bait back in the 1960s. Got some Black Fury baits when I started fishing again in '08. They were killer on smallmouth, but the crappie, white and yellow perch and bluegills were also all over them back then. It doesn't look like my little honey hole will be iced over, in the near future, judging by the long range forecasts. Hope they are correct. I only need to catch a bass in January, which is almost a given at this point, and then in February to have caught a bass from the pond in every month of the year. Quote
freebie Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 I heard yesterday that someone caught a 9.4lber(gold pin unless someone goes bigger by sat) the same day we were out. also caught on the cape. big bass are still biting so get out there and catch them guys. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted December 31, 2011 Super User Posted December 31, 2011 Excellent job! This weekend, the temps suppose to be reaching 50 degrees on the first day of 2012. The ponds are on the verge of freezing, but it won't happen until next week sometime. Quote
freebie Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 got another pig today, pic didn't come out so good though. went 3.88 on rapala digital scale. ate a jig in 6" of water. go figure Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 1, 2012 Super User Posted January 1, 2012 Nice oinker for sure freebie! I purchased my license online today and hit the water for a couple of hours with my son. We got bites on a chrome black back lipless cranks, but no hook ups. The breeze off the water forced us to leave a little early as my son was getting cold, but It felt great to get out on New Years day. I don't believe I've ever fished in January before! Congrats on your outing! Quote
grampa1114 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Done well freebie...stupid fish need love too...hang in there jiggie you might have a shot next weekend too... Grampa Quote
Greg Carlson Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Congrats on your outing. I stripped all my rods and me and my dad winterized the boat right before that October snow storm. Bad decision on our part, as it has been beautiful out lately. Quote
