Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 I don't know if he's a member on this board, but if you are Dean, the jig is up. Dean tried selling me a Megabass rod for a price that seemed to good to be true. Turned out I should have followed my intuition. He went as far as sending me pictures of the rod, and once I sent him the funds he dissapeared on me. Wouldn't return my emails or pm's. I was lucky enough to have a friend that was able to track down all of his personal information, including his cell phone. To his surprise when I called him and he answered, he still tried to tell me that 'his computer wasn't working' and that he'd ship the rod that afternoon. Of course I never received back a tracking number, nor a rod.... After a few more phone calls and a claim filed with Paypal, I was able to get my money back. I know I was lucky. Do not do business with this kid!
Super User NorcalBassin Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 Sounds like someone needs a beatin. Awesome detective work by the way!
Super User J Francho Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 Robert, PM his email, and any other details, and I'll try to cross reference that here.
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 That's ridiculous. People that do those types of things should be removed from the population and the gene pool. I have no tolerance for a thief.
FL_Sharpshooter Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 That's terrible, glad you got your money back though. Here's his user name on here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/user/10582-dean/
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 I would suggest that only the mods post any user IDs we suspect of fraud.
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 27, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 27, 2011 Under normal circumstances I wouldn't post anything like this. The fact that he went as far as sending me pictures of the rod he knew for a fact he did not have is just plain wrong. He knew what he was doing and his intent was to rip someone off.

Robert, you mentioned this ID in reference to another forum, I just think we should keep the posting of forum member IDs to the mods. I would hate for there to be a mix up regarding me, and someone posts that I'm a thief, only to be mistaken for whatever reason.
Super User J Francho Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 Its not you, I've already located the account.
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 27, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 27, 2011 Deaknh03, Understood completely. However there's no mistaken ID case here. We know its not you and the only reason I'm posting this is to make sure no one from this site gets jipped. I'm sure Glenn will handle it as he sees fit and that will be that.
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 Its not you, I've already located the account. I know it's not me, I'm no Dean, nor a thief, but I would hate to accidentally accuse someone in such a public manner, especially since you mods do such a great job of controlling all aspects of this board.

Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 27, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 27, 2011 It's only slander if it's not true.
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 It's only slander if it's not true. Yes. A very wise man once told me, there are three sides to every story, my side, your side and the truth. But yes, you are right Robert.
TrippyJai Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Wow, I've been hearing a lot of stories about people stealing or trying to scam others in the last month or so. It was a good thing that you paid with PayPal. Glad you got your money back. Here's some information that buyers should know: -If you sent money via PayPal GIFT and have a problem, PayPal will NOT cover you. -If you sent money via PayPal, you have 45 days of the purchase to file a claim. PayPal will reimburse you with the funds and go after the seller to recover the money. -If you received an item not describe, PayPal will try to resolve the issue, but you are not covered 100%. Usually if you've made a purchase outside of eBay, PayPal only verifies that the item been delivered. You'll have to convince them that the item was not described so it's a good idea to save pictures, emails, IMs, etc. 1

Super User J Francho Posted December 27, 2011 Super User Posted December 27, 2011 deaknnh03, really that's enough debate. We're handling this, as I said many posts ago. Thanks for your concern.
Super User J Francho Posted December 28, 2011 Super User Posted December 28, 2011 We've taken care of the issue, by blocking this particular user's access to the forums.
