Considering putting this on my Shimano cumara 7'2" MH rod that I plan to use for jigs and soft plastics. Anybody use this reel? If so how is it? I purchased it for $218 with tax but I still have the recipt so I can return it. Im picking up my cumara rod tonight at bass pro and got this reel at sportsmans warehouse.

Not a bad reel. It's dang sure smooth and casts a country mile. Once you get it dialed in right it works amazingly.

Buy the MH XFast for jigs, not the MH Fast. See comments by Hooligan in an earlier post on Cumaras.

Edit: This is the link. http://www.bassresou...38-new-cumaras/

I have the 7'2" MH Fast. It is listed for Fat Ikas/Senkos. Although very sensitive, I would agree that it may not have the power you want for jigs.

Thanks a lot guys for following up! Definitely going to go with the MH Extra Fast tip then. And since a fellow raider fan approves the reel I will be pairing it up with the rod :) Thanks guys!

I've heard a lot of good things about that rod and reel if it helps. That will be one sweet looking combo, black on black.

I knew there was something I liked about you other than your impeccable taste in fishing equipment.

The Smoke reel is very nice, it does take some getting use to if you have never used Quantam products before. I decided to try one last year despite all of the questions about their durability and I definitely worked it very hard fishing last year. Had it on the same rod you are getting and it was a very nice, light and balanced combo and had no problems with this reel all year.
