Best summary of how the "real" world works that I've read on this board. Thanks webertime!

We have some board members that are involved in the tackle industry but there are often limits to what they can say - especially if there are any confidentiality agreements in place about some of the business relationships between the various entities involved in design, development, manufacturing, marketing, distribution, and retailing of these products. From time to time they have contributed a little of the background of this process but that knowledge only lasts as long as the thread is active and is near the front page of the forum...

I always thought it was interesting that the origin of BPS products often comes up, but not with other tackle companies. For instance - Lew's popped up out of nowhere, leveraging off of a well-respected name from several decades ago. They don't have a factory. They don't purchase product from another tackle company. They developed the specs that they wanted in their rods and reels, and the desired price points, and then worked with the OEM company(ies) to develop the product. And so it goes for many of the rod/reel outfits out there...

They're made by an OEM manufacturer, as are many of the rods out there... I give up, you can think Quantum makes them all, it's easier that way.

you are correct... and also at the same time basically agreed with me although for your sake i hope you feel vindicated and intelligent by your more informative argument that was obviously your goal to be-little someone else for your own glory............, the blanks come from the same place quantum and tec spec... if you research it there are other rods of different brands that are built upon the exact same blank yet far apart in price. ... most rods use fuji reel seats and handles . regardless of what labels are on them many things come from the same plant. i was a maintenance man at a plastic bag plant and saw first hand that the generic grocery store bags are sometimes identical in chemical make-up and quality to hefty bags double the price they just stuck them in a different box... its common practice in every industry... there are also only 9 flourocarbon extruders in the world currently yet there are 100's of brands and versions of flourocarbon line, many of them the exact same but in different boxes. same with razors and various other things. by the way pure fishing is actually owned by a larger company that manufactures everything from plastic spoons and forks to medical products.

You're not telling me things I don't know. It's simply that there's so much misinformation out there that, as long as I've been in the industry in both retail and manufacturing/engineering, people believe what they want to believe. Oh, and, check your info on the Quantum blanks.

By the way, I bought stock in Jarden long before their purchase of Pure FIshing.

I think it was a different post that got my ire, and you caught the blunt of it. And it wasn't so much an accusation as a statement of argue if you'd like to, but...
