The 796 has a full grip with a different reel seat. I believe it is an ACS.

I wouldn't buy any rod on line without previously seeing it first and preferably putting my reel on it. I would choose to buy a rod from a store where I didn't have to be worried about the return policy, don't take the cellophane wrap off before you make up your mind. Rod recommendations are for the most part just opinions, I personally put no stock in them, except from a professional rod builder.

looks the same on TW

It's not, their photo is wrong. I have a 715 and love it, not that it helps your decision. Did you get a chance to read the write ups on them on other sites?

Both

Both the 7.6 and 7.9 have the full grip and the ACS, not the split ACS.

The split grips have the new Fuji split seat. I couldn't remember which ones had the full grip, I'm pretty sure the 765 has the full but the 764 does not.

the 766 and the 796 both have the Full ACS grip per Phenix's website.

The 764 does have the split reel seat, and split grip.
