Super User clayton86 Posted December 24, 2011 Super User Posted December 24, 2011 All I can say is wow I was out doing some last minute Xmas shopping with the wife and got my hands on one pairedwith a 7'6 mh veritas. Light doesn't even describe this thing it's it's idk can't think of a word to describe it. Even my wife loved it she said she would get me one for when I get back from Kuwait. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted December 24, 2011 Super User Posted December 24, 2011 They're nice, BUT, the reviews and feedback we've been getting is not great. I personally have had two and had problems with both. The first one I shelled completely, I mean the main drive gear was nearly flat. The second I tor the clutch and ar bearing out after two hours of fishing. I'll stick with a Core or Pixy if I need a light reel for light lures. Quote

Or a Sol/Alphas, the Sol is a good option, you can get them for cheap now that it´s discontinued. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 24, 2011 Global Moderator Posted December 24, 2011 Hooligan you had me worried. I thought the OP was about the new Pfluegar MGX spinning reel, which I'm set on buying if I don't get one for christmas. I know I always count on you not hiding your feelings about new tackle and I was starting to second guess my decision before I figured out you were talking about the Revo MGX! clayton86-That is a sweet looking reel and I hope you got a good one and it works out for you! BB, I haven't been able to get my hands on the new Pflueger, though everything I read and hear is good. There was an initial problem with the sealed drag, but that has been addressed. That's a great reel for the money from all accounts. Quote

Seems to be a fair amount of issues with them so far. I have several of Abu's current generation Premier and was all stoked about getting an MGX. But not so much at this point. I do hope they get the issues figured out quickly and the reviews get better. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted December 25, 2011 Super User Posted December 25, 2011 I have more confidence in the Revo S and STX models oe Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 25, 2011 Super User Posted December 25, 2011 Yea, I was also stoked about getting one until I read the reviews. I'm going to have to wait it out until something new developes. I guess I'll be adding another flawless Lew's TP to my collection. Quote
