I'm thinking about buying the Denny brauer flip and pitch reel. But i've never owned an ardent reel just Shimano and Abu. So to those of you who have this reel or use Ardents, or know someone who does how do you/they like them?

I have the Ardent Evercast Baitcasting Reel in LSU colors. This 6.0:1 reel seemed to be heavy but after using it a few times it does not feel heavy.

No problems with the reel and I enjoy fishing it with my Skeet Reese yellow baitcaster rods.

I would suggest trying the Ardent even though I am a Shimano guy.

Merry Christmas!

A friend of mine has sent back his C400 4 times. Once because of operator error he used it with sunscreen on his hands. It reacted with the finish causing it to bubble and seperate. The other times a bearing froze up, he uses it in saltwater. Each time they sent him a new reel no questions and he received it within two days. Im not impressed with its looks but I was real impressed by its casting ability and their customer service.

I have the F500. Which is the original Ardent flipnpitch. Love it and have had zero issues in 4 years. It's beyond easy to set and use. I recommend spooling it with braid. The way the spool is desiged, flouro has a tendency to jump or overrun the spool. I have it on a 7'6" MH flipping stick.

Always wondered about those reels, they look pretty cool. Sounds like most enjoy them, maybe a future contender for me.

Try it before you buy it! The flip and pitch reels are definitely different in my opinion than anything you have used. I bought one and couldn't get used to the feel and way it fished and wound up trading one of my buddies for a quantum reel he had. No problems with it, was just very hard for me to get used to.
