STK001 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I absolutely love War Eagle Spinnerbaits. I haven't found a more productive spinnerbait yet. I know they designed it to flex a bit more than most to add vibration but the wires bend up so easily and eventually break. A fish broke one of mine the other day. Now I remember last fall when I was paying around 4.00 at Sportsmans Warehouse. Okay, they catch fish, no biggie....but now they are frickin' 7.00 a piece at Gander Mtn. SW closed here sadly. What happened to drive the price up so much? Even BPS is asking 6.29...Anyone know what happened here? Walmart has a few off colors and off sizes for around 5.70 but not what I need... Quote
Super User Tin Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Still worth every penny in my mind. I will take the tag line from the palomar and tie it to the band around the skirt to avoid loosing fish if they ever break on one. Has saved me a couple times. It sucks having to deal with the pike up here, 4/5 good pike and the bait is trashed. Quote
OIFBasser Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I bought a couple last year and refuse to buy any other brand now. Quote
mase088 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I buy terminator quite often and seem to do well on them. In fact, last tournament I out fished a guy in the front of the boat with a Terminator while he used a War Eagle. I caught 4 on a spinnerbait, he caught 0. But the thing I like most about the spinnerbaits is the name.... WAR d**n EAGLE Quote
STK001 Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Good info guys, I appreciate it. I can imagine that a pike would thrash that bait after what I've seen the bass do to it. It's funny, I caught a big cat the other evening and I thought , oh no..it's done..but it didn;t even put a bend in it. I was still mad that it was catfish though! As far as Terminator goes that was pretty much the only spinnerbait I would buy for a long time and they always produced. Last Thursday at Smith Mtn(my home lake) I was catching quite a few fish on my last War Eagle and it finally broke on a fish...I was crushed. I did get the blades back...took a terminator and added the War Eagle blades but It made no difference. I got one short strike and nothing after that. I bought more War Eagles at 7.00 a piece and have been catching fish ever since...I'm not throwing my Terminators out just yet though Good fishing everyone! Quote
looking4structure Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 war eagle are my go to spinners Quote
bmadd Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 The Screaming Eagles are great. War Eagle is the only brand I'll throw and are worth the extra penny Quote
mphenry Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 They seem to work great. Some of the online stores have them for unde $6 Quote
Muad Dib Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 dont forget about terminators and there line i have a t -1 series that i have never missed a fish on and without a trailer hook. i dont like them . i havent tried war eagle cause i like the painted eyes. but congrats on finding a winner. im gonna stick with the terminators but hey who knows how more fish i could be catching with something else! t Quote
nickw234 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I have had good luck with the War Eagles but lately I have had great success with the Booyah Vibra Flex in the double willow. Quote
slider head Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I used all types for a couple years. I just gave away a bunch of the other brands to the kids in the neighborhood the other day. For at least the last 5 years it has been all War Eagle's. IMO they are the best! My Dad saw them in my boat and recognized them and said they were the best 30+ years ago too. Quote
crw Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I have good results from the War Eagle Spot Remover. Around my area they are/were 4.95 at Walmart. Quote
