Lucky Craft Man Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I have the same goals every year (and have yet to achieve them). 1. 7 lb. Smallmough Bass 2. 50+ inch Musky Quote
fxdwgkd Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 My 2011 was the first year in a long time that I did not fish much. I went out maybe 10 time other than when I went to KY lake. My 2012 goal is to catch 100lbs of bass on KY Lake this year, going first week of May, why the first week of May you ask, the guys I go with just want to fish for gills. Also catch a few bass on the fly rod. Missed a few bites last year and nearly put my eye out. They are quite a bit bigger than bluegill flies and hurt a lot more when they hit you! I will have my truck and the wife's car paid off and looking to upgrade to a Z7! Quote
fxdwgkd Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 2011 Accomplishments... got out with my son a number of times and caught several 20" + smallies. 2012 Goals... get out MORE with my son and catch MORE 20" + smallies. Overall goal... get out and fish with my son. That is the best, fishing with your kids. Mine are still pretty young and do not like to go much yet. I love it when I get to fish with my Dad and my kids want to come! Quote
james 14 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 2011: Won my first tournament and took 2 out of 5 this year. Caught my first 20lb stringer in a tourney...twice. Won a tourney on crankbaits...never used them much before this year. 2012: Win at least 3 tourneys including the club classic in March $$$ Catch 20lb stringers in every tourney (gotta aim high...I do live in FL after all) Definitely want to catch a limit in every tourney Buy a bigger boat. Got my eye on a few 20ft mid/late 90s Stratos and Rangers for less than 10k. Get my wife to catch her first fish. Quote
PondBassin Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 As this past year was my first year bass fishing, I didn't have any goals. Basically, my only goal was to get into bass fishing. And I'm happy to say I did that. But for the next year, I have some new goals. 1. Catch a 7lb+ LMB (would be personal best) 2. Get back into fly fishing for bass. 3. Catch 10+ bass at this very finicky pond nearby in one outing 4. Start a fishing log and record all of my catches for the year By the way that was a good looking bass for up north. Hope everryone can accomplish their goals and tight lines. PB Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 I set my tournament schedule aside this year to concentrate on fishing a tournament as a boater. I came in second in my 1st, and won my second. I was humbled by coming in dead last the next, but had three more top 3 finishes. So, I'd say I accomplished a lot. 1 Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted January 4, 2012 Super User Posted January 4, 2012 I set my tournament schedule aside this year to concentrate on fishing a tournament as a boater. I was never so humbled as when I got my first rig and started fishing as a boater. Man did I have a lot to learn. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 4, 2012 Super User Posted January 4, 2012 I had a boat for years, before kids. Fishing tournaments as a boater? Whole different deal. After a second on Ontario, and a win on Erie, I get my butt handed to me on Champlain. Humbling indeed. Halfway through day one, and nothing in the well after a 30 mile run. Man, that's a sinking feeling. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 4, 2012 Super User Posted January 4, 2012 You guys got that right, my first year fishing tournaments was as a non boater, a win, several consecutive high in the money finishes, thought I could do no wrong. So the next year I decided to fish out of my boat alot......well lets just say I learned a few things, and really for the most part, am still. Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 my goal.... slay the bait monkey. also last June i was givin permission to fish a very well managed private lake for a year and i have yet to catch a 10lb + even though i know she's in there, and i have 6 months left to do it. so my next goal is to catch Nadine. Quote
piscicidal Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I didn't meet my 2011 goals (1000 fish, a DD bass). I came close...966 fish and two 8.5lb bass. I also spent 83 days in China this year so that didn't help. My goals for this year...the same. 1000 fish and a double digit. I'll add a third: fish more (i.e. less time in China). Quote
fishingfourfun Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 2011 Accomplishments: learned to use a baitcaster, caught my first of many fish on a Spinnerbaits, caught my first trout and caught over 120lbs of catfish on Lake Norman in one day. 2012 Goals: learn to fly fish, catch my first smallmouth bass and spend more time on the water. Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 5, 2012 Super User Posted January 5, 2012 For 2011 I didn't get to fish much, thankfully due to the fact that work ROCKED. I expect more of the same for 2012, however I also expect to go back to Brazil and make my first bass fishing trip to..........CUBA! Here's to all of you reaching your goals for 2012! Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted January 5, 2012 Super User Posted January 5, 2012 I expect more of the same for 2012, however I also expect to go back to Brazil and make my first bass fishing trip to..........CUBA! I'll be very jealous of you going to Cuba. I'm trying to decide if I want to make it down to Brazil this year. I'm still in search of a 20 plus pound Peacock. As much as I want to go to a new place to catch something different, it's hard to shy away from big woodchoppers and big P's.... Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 5, 2012 Super User Posted January 5, 2012 Heading to the Southern Hemisphere for some big Peas is something I really like to do. I need to do some research if I can find a place that not only has big peas, but has close by inshore fishing for bonefish.........that would be an ultimate trip for me. Quote
MuffinMan Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 2011 accomplishments: converted from a live bait fisherman to an artificial bait fisherman caught well over 40 bass got to know the cashiers in the fishing department of walmart pretty well 2012 goals: fish more catch most of my fish on ultralight equipment catch at least an 8 pounder get a boat stop losing so much tackle Quote
