bmad Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I love to buy bargains, so, tell me what you've bought that is worth more than what you paid for it. I would also like to know about any lemons you have bought. Despite all the bad press, I have two carrot stix that are the best rods I have ever owned, and I think they were a bargain at 125. I also have an 8.00 pack of SK shadalicous swimbaits that have about the same action as a sinking dog turd. Not a bargain. Quote

bmad Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 OK. Tell me what you would buy again tomorrow, at full retail price. Quote
bmad Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 I would buy BPS extreme reels at full retail price. they have held up better than my revo. Quote
Shimmer Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I'd buy about half the bombers for full retail, no use in buying 40 for full price. That's just a steal situation. I would buy 5 more of the Berkley rods for full price as well Quote
MattinOK Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I cleaned up at a yard sale the other day; getting 12-13 packs of assorted soft plastics, and a worm binder for 5$. Super User CWB Posted August 17, 2009 Super User Posted August 17, 2009 I love to buy bargains, so, tell me what you've bought that is worth more than what you paid for it. Not a bargain. $8.00 isn't a bargain for the Shadalicious and if they are not working for you, you must be rigging them wrong. Never used a Carrot stick. Can't get past the appearance. Quote
bmad Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 I rigged em on a 1/8 oz jig head. reel em slow and no action, reel em fast and they roll like a wagon wheel. Quote
The_Natural Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I find too many bargains...hence why I have so much stuff. I've purchased Compile-X Steez rods for $140, but it's the little things that make me buy too much. Academy put Bandits on sale for $1.38 back in 2005. The ad in the paper was supposed to read $1.83 (their cost), but when the paper came out they had transposed the numbers and it read $1.38. Academy honored the ad, and I think I bought like 200 baits. Academy also used to do 'half off all .88 cent endings', and I arrived the Sunday they put all the Kinami hula grubs on clearance for .88 cents. After taking half off, I was paying .44 cents a bag. I purchased 200+ bags; every bag the had in stock. I've still got them...I bet I've used 1 or 2 bags at the most ;D. But hey...it was a good deal...right? Quote
Stasher1 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I picked up a couple Shimano Sonora 2500FB's and a Mitchell 308xe for $15 each when they started remodeling my local Wal-Mart last month. Gave the Sonoras to my oldest boys (7 & 10) and kept the Mitchell as part of my trunk gear. Never know when you might stumble on a good fishin' hole. I check the clearance section first whenever I go gear shopping. I can't tell you how many bags of Zoom and Kinami plastics, Strike King spinnerbaits and cranks, Mann's cranks, Bomber cranks, Rat-l-traps, spools of Trilene XL, and Plano 3600 series boxes I've bought for $1 each, sometime even less. I try not to buy all they have, though, unless I'm really going to use it all. I have to leave some for the next guy. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted August 17, 2009 Super User Posted August 17, 2009 I been on a buying spree on discounted, discontinued and clearance stuff. Mr Twister Super Top Prop $5.00 new (clearance) list $19.00 50 Senko's $6.50 per bag List just 10 for $7 Culprit worms 0.99 cents per bag. List $4+ BPS just had there sticko's on sale. I use there 7 1/2" alot. I been hitting BPS and other discount sites too. I'm just targeting big lures for Northern Pike, Chain Pickerel and Big Bass. With the ecomony so bad its time to get the good low prices on fishing stuff and stockup on your favorite stuff too, plus get some of the higher priced stuff at cheap low prices. WARNING: With shopping on the internet watch the shipping pirces at some sites. Don't over pay for shipping costs. I like to use USPS there faster and cheaper than UPS on smaller packages. I never buy when its a shipping and handling cost this is were it gets tricky on us. Just pay the flat rate for shipping. Quote
bigtimfish Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 X raps for $3.50 each was a bargain for me at Walmart. I would pay full retail for a Revo SX a be completley happy. Quote
MyKeyBe Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I can smell a bargain from a mile away! ;D Shimano Curado CU-200 for $60.00 Abu Torno 3004 for $60.00 Fenwick Ventures 1 at $40.00 and 2 at $20.00 Kinami Flashes for $1.00 Booya Boogie baits for $1.00 Strike King 3x plastics for $1.00 The list goes on and on... Just today Strike King Shaw's Pro Series lures for $.68 cents a bag. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 17, 2009 Super User Posted August 17, 2009 Some of the bargains I 've found: TDZs for $200 at Cabela 's a couple of years ago, man what a deal !, I "saved" $600 dollars of the retail price after paying $800 for 4 reels. Got 2 Daiwa Pixy for $240, during the GinRin Peche meltdown when the regular price was around $325. Rapala lures at 1.99 @ BPS clearance bins. Problem is you can easily go broke "saving". Quote
