aumdb487 Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 I'm in the Choo Choo, we have fished 3 already. 4th on is at the end of April but our two day tournament isn't until September. So a BIG break in the middle of summer. I learned a lot from zero. which was applied to the next tournament where I got lucky to finish 9th. I actually lost one fish that would have moved me up to 7th probably, he was at least half a pounder bigger than the one I brough to the scale. I learned to fish my strengths and not worry about the boater as much.... In the zero tournament I saw him get two on a lipless and I dropped my game plan and started slinging a lipless right next to him. I caught small fish he caught meausring fish... Good luck getting into the tournament. I know in my division the numbers are way down from the beginning, first tournament was 178, then 149, last one was 107. Quote

aumdb487 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Since I started this topic way back in Dec of last year, I thought I would give a quick update. I finished the BFL season inside the top 40 and I'm going to be going to the regionals. Anybody have a tip on Lake Seminole they would like to share? Quote

lmoore Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I've fished as a co-angler for a few years on the Great Lakes Division. Fun times, some great boaters to learn from, but I think I've about had my fill of te co side after last weekend. Was sitting 44th in the standings after an atrocious start to the season and then working my way back to within reach of regionals. All I really needed to do was finish top 50 or so and I owuld have a good shot at the regional. Long story short, I had the fish in the boat to place about 38-40, but we broke down and couldn't get back to the weigh-in. I don't blame the boater for what happened, but it just goes to show that you really have to count on other people to have success on that side. That being said, I've also learned a great deal from some of the boaters I've fished with and, even with some of the disappointments, I think having the co-angler side available is a great way to promote the future of the sport. Wish I could be competing at the regional on K-Lake with a chance to see some of you guys at the All-American Good luck! Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I'm going to be fishing another year as a co-angler with the BFL's and hope to finish better or at least boat a couple of keepers this coming season. Quote
aumdb487 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Imoore, in my four tournament this season I had a similar problem. The boaters batteries die from running the trolling motor and electronics all day long. We tried to start the big motor about an hour before weight in and it wasn't happening. Switched batteries and it wasn't starting. Even tried to get a jump off another boat and nothing. We got towed in with less than 5 minutes to spare before our check in time.... but yea, it's definitely not a good feeling know your day's work is dependent on someone else's equipment. Quote
senko_77 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Congrats on making it to the regionals, my man! Seminole... : ) I won a BFL on Seminole as a co and had a 10lb-4oz kicker. It was awesome! My advice for Seminole is to not be overwhelmed by the thousands of acres of lilypads and shallow water. That lake is one big freaking flat covered in pads. You will also see a TON of gators. My advice for your regional would be to tie on a soft jerkbait, a texas rigged Zoom Mag II worm, and some sort of topwater like a popper or frog. Keep an eye out for irregularites on the bottom...dark spots, ditches, small points. Those things are key on Seminole and will hold groups of fish. Make repeated casts to those spots with those baits and you should be fun. Good luck man and please feel free to PM me if you have any more questions! Quote
bassmaster8100 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I'm gonna be fishing BFL for the first time this coming year. Excited especially since first tourney is on the lake I live on, Ross Barnett Reservoir. The launch point is only 20 minutes from my house . Quote
