Pond Prowler Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Anyone using these with any success? Looking to get some feedback. I know half the swimbait market is just good looking baits that fall flat on their face in the real world. So...anyone? Quote
Bass XL Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I have one but do not use it that often. I honestly don't like the action. Just my opinion, but they're are better swimbaits for the same price. I HAVE caught fish on it tho. Quote
bassman31783 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Save a little more money and buy a Mattlures hard gill. The Giron is a good bait but it has such an aggressive action to it that I find it only does well when the fish are actively feeding. Other wise they just don't seem to want to chase down a lure that's darting side to side so quickly. Also if you reel to quickly it will roll over. Once again I would just save up a little more & buy a hard gill. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 14, 2009 Super User Posted August 14, 2009 I agree with what has been posted. It is a beautiful bait but the action isn't that great. It tends to roll over pretty easily. It works ok if you twitch it and dead stick it. So yes, I have caught fish on it but it's not the greatest small swimbait. Quote
Bantam1 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I torch bass on the Giron at my local lake. I like to turn the handle 2-3 cranks and stop the bait. Imagine it as a rip bait but you reel instead of twitch. They tend to eat it just like a rip bait. It sinks pretty slow and almost suspends around 10-15 feet or so. Quote
Super User Micro Posted August 14, 2009 Super User Posted August 14, 2009 The best thing about this bait is that it sinks horzontally and will rest on its hooks when it reached bottom. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted August 15, 2009 Super User Posted August 15, 2009 Not a big fan of it at all. In fact I will be putting one on the flea market in a few days as soon as I get a set of hooks. I am out of no 2's. Bait is brand new but the hook barbs got a little rust from sitting in my box. Just figured I'd throw that out there for anyone looking. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 16, 2009 Super User Posted August 16, 2009 Micro, that is why I like to use it for bed fishing. I bought it for just that characteristic. Usually I am pitching or flipping with it. Quote
Pond Prowler Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 Thanks for the reply's so far. I think I'd be better off just using the Spro BBZ. I like the Matt Lures stuff but looking for something in the 4" size. Quote
